Investment in Education is a long term economic policy
While many areas of government spending have been cut, in 2014 the UK will spend almost £90bn on education. Part of the Coalition government’s long-term economic policy is investment in areas which can make a real difference to future employment prospects, as the country recovers from the recent downturn.
For buildings, £10bn will be spent repairing schools in England up to 2021, and through the £2.4 billion Priority Sschools Building Programme, 261 schools will be rebuilt or have their needs met by 2017. Technology enhances teaching and learning, and schools across the UK are continuing to invest in ICT, with 43 per cent increasing their ICT expenditure in 2013.
The Spending review declared funding for 180 more free schools, and as more successful schools are granted greater independence through the Academies programme, opportunities that exist for forward thinking private sector suppliers to enter the market will also increase.
Published since 1995, Education Business magazine provides a link between those that supply schools and those that procure products and services on their behalf.....
