EDUCATION ACTIVITY COORDINATOR (Hull) JOB DESCRIPTION MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB Based in Hull, the Education Activity Coordinator (Hull) is responsible for the operational management of a range of small and medium-scale education projects. This role also involves providing support for other projects delivered by the department, and assisting other members of the team, as and when required. Project Management Manage the operational delivery of specific projects with schools and groups of adults or young people in Hull and the surrounding area Coordinate artists, participants and other partners and stakeholders

Deliver projects from the planning stages right through to final evaluation and reporting

Support the strategic development of the Education projects in Hull

Manage relevant project budgets to ensure they remain on target throughout each project

Compile written project documentation where required e.g. concert programmes, teacher packs, publicity material

Collect and collate project evaluation data as required

Provide efficient support at relevant Education programme workshops and sessions

Assist in maintaining excellent working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including schools, teachers, participants and partners, ensuring that Opera North is represented positively at all times

Assist in ensuring relevant projects are delivered to the highest possible standards to enable the strongest possible outcomes for participants

Liaising with relevant managers, troubleshoot practical issues as and when they arise and work with artists to keep projects on track with agreed aims and objectives

Additional responsibilities

Enable the smooth running of the Education Department by providing administrative support where appropriate e.g. website, programmes, statistics, reporting, assisting fundraising

Contribute to effective communication within the Education department and with other departments at Opera North

Assist in developing the profile of the department through internal and external communications

Support the team to ensure that financial management and reporting is accurate and timely

Provide a point of contact within the department for internal and external enquiries

Assist with or manage departmental tasks as and when required

RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL STAFF MEMBERS To be aware of the work of other departments in the achievement of the aims of Opera North.

To take an active part in communicating and co-operating with other staff and departments.

To follow guidelines, procedures and policies provided by the company in relation to financial management and personnel records.

To work in accordance with the Equality and Diversity Policy of Opera North.

To be aware of, and comply with, rules and legislation pertaining to Health & Safety at work.

To take part in such working groups and committees as might from time to time be required for the fulfilment of departmental or company aims.PERSON SPECIFICATIONEssential: Experience of managing small-scale projects and events At least 1-2 years of professional experience working in arts administration/arts education. Experience of working with children and young people Experience of managing budgets A demonstrable interest in the arts Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and work to meet deadlines. Availability to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends as required Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Calm and confident, particularly when working to demanding deadlines Confidence to communicate with external and internal partners at all levels. Good communication skills, both written and spoken Desirable: Evidence of music literacyTerms and Conditions

Salary range:

18,000 to 20,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours of work:

Normally 10:00 until 18:00 hrs, Mon-Fri, however actual working hours do vary; early morning, evening and weekend work will be requiredNormal place of work: The normal place of work is Hull; travel to other locations around the North of England, or further afield, may be requiredHoliday entitlement:

33 days inclusive of 8 statutory holidays per annumPension:Opera North will automatically enrol you into the company pension scheme after 3 months service and make a contribution equivalent to 5.5% of your basic pay, should you meet the current legislative criteria.
