In today’s increasingly competitive workplace, it is more important than ever to make the right decisions for your child as early as possible. At Llandovery College, pupils are encour- aged to be the very best they can be in small class- rooms and in an environ- ment where every child is valued. From the very first day, our boarding and day pupils embark upon a jour- ney where values, respect, intellectual curiosity, emo- tional maturity and inter- personal skills are seen to be every bit as important as the primary aim of aca- demic excellence. Llandovery College has a strong academic record with a 100% GCSE pass rate in 2011. Our 2011 A level results were the best on record with 60 per cent of students achieving A*-B grades. Every pupil in college is provided with a Samsung netbook, fully equipped with the latest software required to enhance the whole learning experience. Added to this, all our class- rooms are fitted with up-to- the-minute interactive Smart Boards, designed to appeal to every learning preference. Music and arts flourish at Llandovery and are a vibrant part of everyday life with a multitude of choirs, drama, song and dance. Those seeking adventure thrive from our thrilling Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh schemes. Sport is synonymous with Llandovery College. Our reputation for first class rugby is unparalleled with an amazing 45 full interna- tionals passing through the college gates. Our passion for sport means everyone finds something they enjoy - rugby, hockey, fencing, golf, athletics, shooting, archery, basketball and netball. Welsh for all The Mid Wales Welsh for Adults Centre is offering a range of new courses for 2012. If you are a fluent Welsh speaker but would like to brush up your written skills for professional or personal reasons, why not join Idris Reynolds for a 10/20 week course in Cardigan Castle. We also have new courses for com- plete beginners in various venues, and special sessions for families with babies and/or toddlers. Details of our courses in Ceredigion can be found on the centre’s website www.learnwelshinmidwales.org. If you have a child in a junior school in Ceredigion please enquire at your child’s school about Welsh courses for parents or phone 01545 572715. If you would like to join one of our sessions for families with babies and/or tod- dlers please contact the centre on 0800 876 6975. The centre’s Welsh for adults stu- dent of the year, Jac Forster, seen here with her husband Marc and their two sons, who all speak Welsh, is cer- tainly a shining example to all those learning Welsh. Jac who was born in London, has worked very hard over the past four years to learn Welsh in order to establish Welsh as the lan- guage of the home. If you see Jac, and you speak Welsh, cofiwch siarad â hi yn Gymraeg (remember to speak to her in Welsh). Castle School offers attractive choice The independent secondary Castle School, within comfort- able travelling of south Ceredigion families, continues to thrive on its formula of discipline, attention to detail and personal tuition within small classes. Now in its third year, Castle School has been greatly encour- aged by the first round of GCSE results last summer, and is once again offering great flexibility of choice and targeted tuition to ensure this continues. “Our school is accessible to anyone who feels that they may benefit from a smaller, family-style envi- ronment in which all pupils can fulfil their potential,” says princi- pal Mrs Harriet Harrison. Located at Cresselly, in Pembrokeshire’s beautiful coun- tryside, Castle School offers places in all year groups up to GCSE level and a competitive fee structure. Castle School welcomes visits from interested families.
