Didgeribone Performance and Music Count Us In

Music Count Us In is Australia’s’ biggest music program. This year JCS students from Kindergarten to Year 8 were involved in ‘Paint You A Song”. This year our students also participated by signing the song, a new experience for many with Chester Daria and Marian Roberts conducting the signing choir.

Decades of research shows that learning music can help students’ self-confidence, self-discipline and team work. It can help students engage in school, can improve school attendance and can even help student’s make healthy life choices. There are also strong links between music learning and academic skills in literacy and numeracy. Research shows that music is unique in its flow-on benefits to students who learn it.

Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Science Award

These awards recognise excellence in Science achieved by Year 11 students and this years’ JCS recipient is Kristian Blackmore-Lee. The celebration is to be held at Figtree High School and highlights the partnership between the NSW Department of Education and Communities and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

Bus Travel

A number of students have been behaving inappropriately on the bus to and from school. A timely reminder that conduct during this time still falls under the responsibility of the school. Continued disobedience and misconduct on the bus may result in your bus pass being cancelled and the privilege of bus travel removed.

NSW Alpine School of the Year

It was my pleasure to present the trophy to the School Captains and Vice-Captains at our recent formal assembly. The prestigious award recognises the commitment and achievement of our students in skiing and snowboarding and indicates our high performance once again in the Alpine Snowsports. I commend all of the students who train and compete tirelessly.
