COMPREHENSION Practice 1 Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

Agnes was on a field trip with her friends and teachers. The hike up the

steep slope was exhausting. The initial thrill of being one with nature had

subsided. Seeing that all of them were hot and tired, Mrs Ling told the children

to take a rest under a shady tree. However, Mrs Ling had failed to ensure the

safety of the area chosen.

As Agnes was resting, Bobby came along and threw Agnes a ball. "Catch

it, Agnes!" called out Bobby. However, he had thrown it too high. It hit the

beehive above her head and a swarm of angry bees flew out. They chased

Agnes and Bobby, who ran away screaming and crying. Mrs Ling quickly took

three towels from the other children and ran after Agnes and Bobby. She threw

them the towels and told them to cover themselves. Meanwhile, the other

teacher who was with the other horrified children called for help.
