WILL STUDENTS PERFORM BETTER ON UNIT EXAMS IF THEY
COMPLETE TEXTBOOK BASED HOMEWORK OR TECHNOLOGY BASED
HOMEWORK?
The Study Study will take place over the
course of two units (approximately 1 month)
The first unit students will complete all textbook based homework and then take the unit exam
The second unit students will complete all technology based homework and then take the unit exam
The Study Scores will be compared
from the two exams to see if students perform better in one unit than the other
All participants will be anonymous
Students will complete a survey illustrating their thoughts about the different types of assignments and the effect the difference had on their grades
Certification
Participants (Hopefully) 26 ninth grade global history
students Based on consent and assent
Reason for the Study Other studies have been conducted on
web-based homework v. traditional based homework to see if it impacts student performance
However, those studies have been inconclusive

classes Why should technology for educational
purposes stop when students go home? Will students learn better if they are
using media they are familiar with?

other social media sites Will the distractions of the internet
distract students from completing technology based homework to the best of their ability?
