Welcome to the DMI Spring. As always, the newsletter
reports on the various significant activities and
achievements, along with other information you would
love to know. This internal newsletter is one of the ways
which disseminate information on the life of the DMICE.
Hence we bring forth the enthusiastic February month
news which proved to be a month of accomplishment by
the students and faculty in accordance with academic,
co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, inclusive of
research and developments programme. DMICE has
always been striving to keep itself ahead of the
competition and the results are now for everyone to see.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a Guest Lecture for III
year students on Digital Signal Processing by Mr.Essakiraj , Associate professor from
Rajalakshmi Engineering College. The students got a clear idea about FIR, IIR Filters.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organised a technical Seminar
on INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION for second Year students, in which the resource
person Mr. Muneeswaran from Technocrat Automation shared his knowledge on
automation.

Workshop
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted the workshop on
EMBEDDED SYSTEM for Third years in which 44 students attended and learnt from
the trainers on the basic of embedded systems.

Industrial Visit
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering arranged an Industrial Visit for
second year students to All India Radio. Students got clear information about the
organization, industrial process, system and facilities which will help them to improve
their knowledge.

Industrial Visit
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering marshalled an Industrial Visit for
third year students to SANSBOUND, the networking school. Students got the practices
for handling the routers & servers and also campus drive for their networking knowledge.
Students got a certificate of participation in the workshop on networking protocols.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Seminar on Product Design and
Development for second and third years by Mr. Vignesh Kumar and Mr. Sundar from
CADD School.

I Year Students’ Volunteership For Chess Competition 2017
The Department of Sciences and Humanities association with YMCA organised a Chess
Competition for the school students. I Year NSS Volunteers of DMICE gave their hands
in according with Chess Competition for the Schools around chennai. 20 NSS volunteers
involved themselves in this programme in guiding the students, parents and guests to the
various places in the campus. Rev. Sr. Hamlet, Admin, Dr. Muthu, Principal and Dr.
Suresh Mohan Dean congratulated the volunteers for having involved themselves for the
success of the programme.

Guest Lecture
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering arranged the Guest
Lecture on Linear Integrated Circuits-Special function IC's by Mr. S. Richard
Jebasingh, from Rajalakshmi Engineering College. In this session, he discussed about
basics of oscillators, multi vibrators, waveform generators and Timers. The applications of
Linear integrated circuits was also discussed.

Industrial Visit
The Department of Civil Engineering arranged an Industrial Visit for third year students to
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT. This visit made the students to gain a lot of
knowledge about the various primary and secondary treatment processes in the sewage
treatment system and also about the process of the dam.

Guest Lecture
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted a Guest
Lecture on Medical Electronics by Mr. K. Senthil Kumar for third year students. The
lecture includes topics in recent trends in medical instrumentation and various assist
devices used in the hospitals. The students were able to describe the working of several
medical instruments which will restore normal functioning. The application of electronics
in diagnostic and therapeutic area was also discussed at the end of the session.

Workshop
The Department of Civil Engineering conducted a Workshop on 3D MODELLING AND
PRINTING by Mr. Balasubramaniyam, Branch manager, Diagonal CADD. He gave a
deep lecture on the usage of software for designing purpose and the scope of this in the
present scenario. It was a great knowledgable program for our students to improve their
technical skill.

Guest Lecture
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering arranged a Guest lecture
on VLSI Design for third year students by Mr. K. Goutham, Embedded Engineer,
Auckam Industries, Ambattur. The main focus of the guest lecture was on the transistor
circuit level design and realization for digital operation. Architectural choices and
performance trade off involves in designing and realizing the circuits in CMOS
technology were also discussed. Hardware description language was discussed for
modelling the digital system.

year students on Corporate induction programme by Mr.Srinath , CEO, SEEKOUT.
Students got an idea about how to become an Entreprenurs.

Guest Lecture
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized the Guest
lecture for second years on Electronics circuits –II by Mr. P. Sabarinath, Founder Res
Pro Industries. The aim of the guest lecture was to make the students to understand the
advantages and method of analysis of feedback amplifiers, and to understand the analysis
and design of LC and RC oscillators, amplifiers, multi vibrators and time base generators.
The performance of tuned amplifiers was also discussed.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted a Guest
lecture on Antenna & Wave Propagation by Dr.H. Umma Habiba, SVCE for third
year students. The main aim of the guest lecture was to create awareness about the
different types of propagation of radio waves at different frequencies. At the end of the
guest lecture, the students were allowed to discuss about antenna arrays, aperture antenna
and special antenna.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a Guest
lecture for third year students on Computer Networks. The Resource person for this
guest lecture was Dr. S. Ganapathy, VIT. The main aim of this lecture was to make the
students to understand the division of network functionalities into layers, to learn the flow
control and congestion control algorithms and to identify the components required to
build different types of networks.

Department Assembly
The Department of Sciences and Humanities honoured the winners of the New Year
Celebration events in the department assembly. Dr. Suresh Mohankumar, Dean and
Rev. Sr. Hamlet, Administrator appreciated and honoured the prize winners with
certificates and awards.

Guest Lecture
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering arranged a Guest lecture
for third years on Industrial Automation - PLC & SCADA by Mr. Arun, Technocrat
Automation. The main objective of the guest lecture was to make the aspiring engineers
acquainted with the conceptual as well as practical knowledge of the Industrial
Automation and latest technologies being used to achieve industrial automation. The idea
of organizing this guest lecture was to inculcate the basic fundamentals of automation in
the students and provide them with a platform to work on it in the future.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a Department
Advisory Committee (DAC) meeting. Alumni students, parents discussed various
suggestions about the student’s welfare.

Industrial Visit
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized the Industrial
visit for third year students to Technocrat Automation in Ambathur & Aminjikarai.
During this visit the students were taught about PLC, SCADA, VFD, Control panels, Field
Instruments, DCS & Embedded Systems. The students were provided with excellent
practical guidance to become a skilled PLC programmer. PLC SCADA is important in
automation and it has increased the production rate and also has benefitted the industries
in many aspects.

The Department of Civil Engineering conducted a National Level Workshop on Civil
Bridge Designing by Mr. Musthaffah, Trainer, IBCC in collaboration with IIT. It was a
great knowledgable program for the students to improve their technical skill.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a guest lecture for
second year students on Basics of JAVA by Dr.G.Nagappan,Asso.professor, Saveetha
Engineering College.Students got an idea about program, JAVA terminology, JAVA
socket program.

NSS Camp
The NSS programme officers of DMICE were invited as chief guests for the special camp
conducted by Jeppiar Mamallan College of Engg. Mr. Joseph Raj, NSS Advisor, Mr.
Aungston and Mr. Dhinesh NSS Programme Officers along with Mr. Aran visited the
camp and encouraged the students of NSS. Mr. Thamarai Kannan was the special guest of
the day to deliver speech on motivational topics. Mr. Joseph Raj shared his experience on
NSS and delivered some values regarding NSS Volunteers who are the real responsible for
Social empowerment.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering marshaled an Industrial Visit for third Year
to Vel Tech Engineering Works, Avadi (Ayanambakkam).

Workshop
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized the Workshop
for third year students on Embedded systems was conducted by Ms. Naga Radhika, Live
wire. The main objective of the workshop is to make the students skill full and efficient
for all the hardware and software related concepts for 8051 Microcontrollers. The topics in
the workshop include Introduction to Embedded C, difference between C and Embedded
C. The General Discussion & Overview of Embedded Systems was given to the students.

Workshop
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted the workshop on
WEB DESIGNING in which 77 students participated and learned to create a web page
and learned the basics on Photoshop which was trained by Mr. Adgaonkar Shashank,
IBNC, New Delhi.

Sports Day
DMICE create benchmarks in excellence not only in studies but also in sports and games
as believe in the concept of integrated development of the individual with magis
manipulated the Annual Sports. The ground looked colorful with march-past by four
houses and Mr. Krishnamoorthy, Superintendent of Police (Retired) Chief Guest took
the salute of Honor, much to the pleasure and applause of the spectators. According to the
protocol the Olympic torch was carried by the Champions and the Olympic cauldron was
lit. The cauldron lighting stands for the fire of each participant’s will- the will to strive, the
will to win. Mr. Krishnamoorthy delivered the Inaugural address and declared the sports
meet open. As a symbol of Peace and Serenity, Pigeons were released by the dignitaries
symbolizing the vibrant hopes of the sporting students that were flying high.All the
students of DMI college of Engineering participated in Annual Sports Meet and expressed
their talents on sports.
The students and faculties were divided into teams and both track and field events were
conducted among teams. The track events include - Running (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m,
4*100m, 4*400m and 1500m). Field events include - Shot-put, Javelin throw, Discus
throw and Long jump.
Kho-Kho, Volley ball, Basketball, Football and Cricket were conducted for boys. Kho-
Kho, Throw ball, Volley ball and indoor game (Badminton) were conducted for girls. The
overall Rolling cup was bagged by GREEN house with the combined effort of both the
students and the faculties. The winners of the various events and march-past were crowned
with trophies, medals and certificates.

Blood Donation Camp
In Association with Lions Club, Chennai and Indian Red Cross Society, Chennai,
National Service Scheme Cell of DMI College of Engineering organised the Blood
Donation Camp. The organizers of the event are Mr.J.Aungston of English Department
and Mr.R.Dhinesh Babu of Mathematics Department. The volunteers have been selected
from the I Year NSS Volunteers, 20 in number. Mr. J. Aungston, NSS PO welcomed the
gathering and the medical team which led by Mr.Kalaiselvan and Mr.
ShanmugaSundaram from Lions Club and Indian Red Cross. The event was inaugurated
by Rev. Sr. Hamlet, Administrator. She blessed all the volunteers with her blissful
prayers whereas Dr. Suresh Mohan, Dean felicitated the gathering by his motivational
thoughts. Mr. P. L. Joseph Raj, NSS Advisor, DMICE & Head, Sciences and Humanities
gave special instructions and guidance to all the volunteers regarding their Volunteership
for the event separately. All the volunteers have been given individual responsibilities
such as, guiding the donors equally to two camps, registering donors, maintaining
hospitality, writing certificates, aiding the donors, coordinating with the medical team and
even more.

Engines for third years by Mr. Xavier Jaganathan, Goodwin Motors.

Seminar
The Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged a Seminar on Higher Education for
second year students. The resource person for this seminar was Mr. Mohammed and Mr.
Murali, TIME Institute (Chennai).
HOME THEY BROUGHT LAURELS
• Ms. Angel, Ms. Mounica, Ms. Felesia Jemmimah, and Ms. Gomathi Final year
CSE got selected in Sutherland.
• Ms. Prathyusha, Ms. Nancy and Mr. Shaun monsey, third year CSE participated
in a paper presentation on Augumented reality held at Anand institute of
technology, and also participated in wed D cookie ,connexions and code jam.
