ForewordIt is with gratitude and humility that I offer this third volume of hymn arrangements for the advanced player. Your expressions of appreciation and encouragement regarding previous releases have not gone unnoticed; rather, they are a big part of the inspiration for the present volume.

Once again, it is my hope as arranger to provide you with material for your personal music ministry that will not only appeal to your own artistic fulfillment, but that will also connect your congregation or audience through your performances with the eternal messages found in our rich heritage of hymnody.

As always, I hope you will find here a good balance of arrangements that both evoke the joy and energy of life in Christ and that elicit more tender and intimate feelings of devotion and inspiration drawn from the messages of God’s love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness through a personal relationship with Jesus. Each volume also contains a selection for the Thanksgiving, Advent/Christmas, and Lenten/Easter seasons.

As in earlier volumes, you will ideally want to collaborate with a skilled accompanist, but for those times when that’s not an option, you’ll find piano accompaniment tracks for each arrangement on the CD in the back of the book, along with the demonstration tracks.

If this is your first exposure to this series, and you find that it is a useful tool in your musical ministry, I would invite you to check out my earlier volumes. About the ArrangerBrant Adams is one of the premier orchestrators for church music publishers today. His numerous cantata and octavo orchestrations may be found in the catalogs of the leading publishers in the industry. He holds a B.M. in piano performance from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, an M.M. in music theory from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Ph.D. in music theory from the University of Texas at Austin. He has served on the music faculties of Mercer University, and since 1987, at Oklahoma State University where he is professor and coordinator of the music theory division, and also served as head of the department of music 2007-2015. He also serves as director of the music ministry at First Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK. His arrangements in this collection reflect his solid understanding of instrumental writing, creative arranging abilities, and a keen awareness of the local church setting shaped by his many years as a practicing church musician. Brant and his wife, Ginger, live in Stillwater.
