Coronavirus ha s cau sedhavoc throughout the world. Ourcountry too was not spared. As ap rec au t i o n a ry meas u re , ana tion wide lockdo wn wasimposed on 24thMarch 2020, asa result of which, crores ofpeople became job less . Ineconomic terms, our countrydrifted many years . Thosepeople who earned daily wagesfor a living were renderedhelpless. They were left tomercy for one square meal.There was misery on the facesof people. Those who neverbegged were compelled to do so.Those mothers and sisters whonever revealed their identity tostrangers were forced to do so toreceive rat ion . There werehorrific scenes to witness. Thesituation was immensely awful.More than sixty percent of thepopulation of the country wasalready living below the povertyline and the sudden unplanned
lockdown did not provide achance to the migrant labourersto get back to their nativeplaces. The plight of migrantlabourers from states like West
B e n g a l ,B i h a r ,
Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, andOdisha was indescribable .Within a few days into thelo c k d o w n , th e p eo p l e o fHyderabad who are known fortheir service to humanity, stoodup and turned to the slums andstarted helping the poor helplesspeople, widows, and orphans.The relief was initiated throughsup ply of ra t ion an d cashassistance. Food was beingpro vid ed to th o u san d s o fmigrant labourers who set outon foot on the national highwaysin anticipation of joining theirloved ones back home. On one hand, theirservices will go down in thepages of history and on the otherhand, their generosity will beweighed on the scales of justiceon the Day of Resurrection,Insha Allah. Besides individuals,various welfare organisationswere also in the forefront. SafaBaitul Maal India, your ownorganisation, too has left itsmark on every mo ment ofdistress in the country andrendered services in every aspectduring emergencies like flood orcyclone, earthquake or riots. Assoon as the lockdown wasimplemented, the trustees ofSafa Baitul Maal decided toi n i t i a t e r e l i e f m e a s u r e s .Therefore, on a daily basis,deserving people were identifiedin the poor localities and rationdistribution was initiated in anorganised manner. Through Safa Baitul Maal,ration worth one crore twenty-fivelakh rupees was distributed dailyfrom 1st April to 13th May to10000 households belonging to thefollowing localities. At first, theration was distributed to thosep e o p l e w h o w e r e i s s u e de n t i t l e m e n t c a r d s b y t h eorganisation after the survey.Besides, the ration was distributedto migrant labourers from differentstates who were s tranded atvarious locations. It may be noted the uniquespirit of service on the basis ofhumanity created by Safa BaitulMaal India will be remembered forlong. The unique, exemplary andorganised services of Safa BaitulMaal are recognised in every nookand corner of the country. Timelye m e r ge n c y se r v ic e s o f t heorganisation, reaching out to thed e s e r v i n g f o r a s s i s t a n c e ,t e a m - b a s e d f i e l d w o r k a n dextensive work based on surveyand experience and channelizingthe funds of the virtue-seekers tothe deserving in a transparent andsa t is fac t o ry manner a re thecharacteristics of the organisation.The process of monthly grants tothe disabled is functional for thepast 13 years. These disabledpersons and widows live a helplesslife but with dignity. Safa BaitulMaal conducted a comprehensivesurvey of these people through itsteam and began distributing them
grants. The guiding force behindthe reputation and diversity of theservices of Safa Baitul Maal arethe blessings of hundreds of suchhelpless and deserving widows.With the commencement of thelast part of Ramzan, the process ofdistribution of monthly grants andRamzan ration to these deservingwidows and disabled persons wasinitiated. The central staff of SafaBaitul Maal, while on one hand,was engaged in serving water tothe migrating labourers and inother services, on the other hand, itwas busy in distributing ration tope o p le a ffe c t e d d ue to thel o c k d o w n o n a c c o u n t o fCoronavirus. The team of Safa isengaged in hard work in thescorching sun. Besides disabledpersons and widows, Safa BaitulMaal is sponsoring more than 200orphans. All these orphan boys andgir ls have bee n e nro l led indifferent Muslim managementschools of the city and Safa BaitulMaal is paying their school fees.During the last part of Ramzan,ration and educational grants wereissued to their households.

thousands of cab drivers workingfor Ola and Uber have lost theirdaily earnings, since the lockdownwas imposed, the Safa Baitul Maaldistributed 560 ration kits onFriday. Central president MoulanaGayas Ahmed Rashadi said thatlockdown affected livelihoods ofalmost everyone and hoped thiswould help them support theirfamilies in these tough times. Eachkit comprised of ten essentialitems, sufficient for a family for atleast 10 days.Eid kits worth Rs.10 lakhs

Thus, 2000Eid kits wor th Rs.500 eachto t a l l ing Rs . 1 0 la khs we r edistributed. Each kit comprised of2 kg sona masoori rice, one kgsugar, one kg vermicelli, two litresmilk and fifty grams each ofalmonds, dates, cashews andmelon seeds and 200 grams dalda.
Medical assistant during the lockdown Due to the lockdown, phone
evaluation facility was initiated bySa f a Ba i t u l M a a l . I n t h i sconnect ion, medic ines weresuggested to 378 patients afterdiagnosis. This apart, assistancethrough Rs.16000 and medicineswas provided to 16 patients. Inaddition, 25 needy patients weregiven home delivery of medicines.Li k e w is e , m e d ic i n e s w e r eprovided to 98 patients sufferingfrom diffe rent diseases, whoapproached the office. This apart,an assistance o f Rs.600 wasprovided to 3 needy patients.Distribution of monthly grantsto helpless widows, deserving

grants are issued after completeinvestigation to destitute widows,disabled persons, deserving peopleand impoverished householdsliving in different localities ofHyderabad; therefore, during thecurrent month too, three monthgrants of Rs.5000 to 4 helplesswidows, Rs.27,000 to 5 deservingpoors and Rs.20,000 to 5 poordisabled persons have been issued.

mosques are built in villages in
different s tates of India likeTelangana , Andhra Pradesh,Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar wherethere are no mosques and no placeof collective worship for Muslimswhere they could gather to pray toGod and offer Namaz; throughSafa Baitul Maal, mosques arebeing built for Muslims in villagesaway from towns; till now, 200mosques have been built throughSafa Baitul Maal. In this month,more Rs.1,80,000 were spent onthe construction of a mosque.

Under suchtesting times when the people areunable to fulfil their needs, theParbhani branch of Safa BaitulMaal has been in the forefront tocater to the needs of the deservingpeople. After conducting a detailedsurvey of the deserving people,tokens were issued to them andt a k ing a l l p r e c a u t io ns a nd

Freetailoring centres are being runsince the last five years in slumlocalities of the town, QidwaiNagar, Farooq Nagar, Kharakpuraand Dulhe Shah Rahman Nagar totrain women and girls and makethem self-reliant. So far, more than1000 women and gir ls havereceived tailoring training fromthese centres. Cash grants aredistributed every month to old andsick men and women. Partialassistance is provided for themarr iages o f poor gir ls andtreatment of patients. Thousandsof people became unemployed allof a sudden due to the lockdownon acco unt o f Co ronav irus .Sensing the gravity of the situationand in the public interest, thein-charge persons of the branch, inassociation with all-party frontNanded, distributed more than7000 ration packs during Ramzan.The servers of the organisation areimmensely grateful to the donorsand well-wishers and are hopefulthat they shall continue theirassistance in the future too; JazakAllah Khair.

In viewo f t h e l o c k d o w n d u e t oCoronavirus, ration packs arebeing constantly distributed toneedy persons.
