PicMonkey – Free Photo Editor
The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate how to use PicMonkey to: enrich your photographs and images for presentations, scrapbooking, digital publishing, etc.
PicMonkey is so easy to use, even a “monkey can do it.” Just remember, it takes patience and doing it until you get the desired effect you want.
The following pictures are from my collection. I used http://picmonkey.com to enrich the images.
Resizing or Enlarging a
Photo/Image Picture Before Resizing
Directions:
Resizing a photo for a larger frame can be done using Picmonkey.
First, click on Edit, then from the choices select where your photo/image is located; select photo/image and your photo will appear like the image on the right.
Next, (see before image on right) use the menu located on the left to choose Resize.
Then, in the dialogue box change the size(s) until you get the desired look.
Finally, click Apply and then click Save. Rename your picture file. If you do not like the picture effect, you can cancel and start the process over.
Adding a Frame and Changing the Background Color
You can add frames and give your picture a different background using Picmonkey.
Directions:
First, click on Edit, then from the choices select (computer, Facebook, e.g.) or wherever your photo/image is located; select photo and your photo will appear like the image on the right.
Next, on the far left side click on the frame icon, you will then see several different frames choices. Click on each frame choice to see the effect that it has on your photo. I chose Shape Cutouts for this project.
Then, after choosing a frame you like, you can modify it using the selections offered. Shape Cutouts offers 8 different shapes, resizing the frame, and also an option to change the Background Color. Click anywhere on the color chart and choose a complementary color. You are welcome to choose another option.
Finally, click Apply and then click Save. Rename your picture file. If you do not like the picture effect, you can cancel and redo the process over.

Rotating and Adding Text to a Picture
You can use Rotate to have the people in the photo switch places and add Text using Picmonkey.
Directions: Rotating
First, click on Edit, then from the choices select (computer, Facebook, e.g.) where your photo/image is located; select photo/image.
First, click on the first icon on the left and choose Rotate under Auto Adjust. You can play around with the rotate buttons to see the effects that will happen to your photo. I chose the Horizontal Double Arrow and it switched the positions of the two people in the photo.
Then, Apply and Save photo and rename.
Directions for Adding Text
Next, on the far-left side menu click on the icon Tt to add Text and scroll to see the text choices (the crown indicates a Royal product, you have to register to use this text). Choose your text and a text box will appear on your photo along with a dialogue box on the right.
Then, choose your color, font size, and position the text on your photo.
Finally, Apply and Save photo and rename.
See next slide for before and after pictures.
Cropping a Photo
You can crop a picture that may have damaged edges or you want to remove someone in the photo.
Directions:
First, click on Edit, then from the choices select (computer, Facebook, e.g.) where your photo/image is located; select photo/image.
Next, on the menu located on the left choose Crop.
Then, drag the cropping tool to around to select the part of the photo you want to see. Use the 2-sided arrows to resize the cropping area. Once you have the desired photo selection, choose Apply, Save and rename.
