Edinburgh is located in the south-east of Scotland, near the North Sea.

There are over 4,500 buildings within the city

Population

The population of Edinburgh is about 448, 624 people. City the seventh largest in the United Kingdom.The General Register Office also reported that this resident population was split between 220,094 males and 237,736 females.

Old town The Old Town has

preserved its medieval plan and many Reformation-era buildings.

One end is closed by the castle and the main artery, the Royal Mile.

New town The decision to construct a New

Town was taken by the city fathers, after overcrowding inside the Old Town city walls reached breaking point.

Its most famous street is Princes Street, facing Edinburgh Castle

for the Edinburgh Festival, although this is in fact a series of separate events, which run from the end of July until early September each year.
