Los decoraban con pinturas que sacaban de las plantas y el mejor regalo era el huevo que estuviera mejor pintado. English Week is a time most students look forward to due to our many activities and decorations. This year’s English Week was from February 25 th to February 28 th with the theme “It’s always a good time for English”. As part of our celebrated week, all teachers prepared a variety of classroom activities, games, and oral reports to reinforce English literacy appreciation throughout the decades. On Wednesday, February 27 th we held our annual School Spelling Bee in our library. For this occasion we had the participation of eleventh and twelfth grade students as our spelling bee judges and pronouncers. Our School Spelling Bee is divided into three catagories, all by grade and level of difficulty. The winners for the Spelling Bee were: 4 th -6 th Grade 1 st Place Solange Roman (4 th Grade Claudia Ramírez (6 th Grade) 2 nd -3 rd Grade 1 st Place Alexia Ramos (3 rd Grade) 1 st Grade 1 st Place Marcos Delgado (1 st Grade) In addition to our Spelling Bee competition, this year we added a High School Poetry Competition, in which more than forty students entered their original poems in hopes of win- ning the trophy, the creative writer’s kit, and their poem published in the school newspaper. The competition was also divided into two categories by grade levels. The winners for the Po- etry Competition were: 7 th -9 th Grade 1 st Place Mariela Duchesne (8 th Grade) 10 th -12 th Grade 1 st Place Javier Catalá (10 th Grade) As a conclusion to our English Week activities, on Thursday, February 28, 2013 we held our Closing Activities by grade levels all day in the Assembly. The Elementary School pre- pared oral presentations based on fashion, music, and games from each decade. Preschool pre- pared a 50s Twist dance and High School prepared a play that focused on music and literature from all the decades. It was an amazing week filled with interesting facts about the decades, music, literature, and time. The English Coordinator and teachers will like to thank the Administration, Faculty, and Stu- dents for all their help and efforts in making English Week a success! Spelling Bee winners

Since I was young, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. Having a little sister, I always wanted to teach her what I had learned in my classes, so I always pretended to be a teacher, never knowing that I would one day actually be-come one. Being teacher of the year is more than an honor, or an achievement, it means that I have fulfilled my goal of being the best that I can be as an educator. Every teacher puts all their effort and hard work on a daily basis and I know that we all equally deserve such a high recognition. I am the teacher that I am today because I believe that edu-cating and learning can be fun and inspiring. I enjoy teach-ing and seeking new ways each day to moti-vate my students into appreciating English and literature through.

The Beach

I like to go to my grandparent’s beach house in Camuy . The ocean is clean and beautiful. The sand is full of seashells. I would like people to conserve the beach by not throwing trash in the ocean or the sand.

The most beautiful place I visited was El Yunque because it has many trees, waterfalls and trails to walk on. I went with my family and I enjoyed it a lot.

One of the most beautiful places I have visited is Cubuy at El Yunque. This place has a lot of nature and animal species. There is always a nice temperature. It’s a very quiet place and it is good for resting.

Field Day Superior

El pasado 1 de marzo se celebró nuestro famoso “Field Day”. Este año cada grado de séptimo a duodé-cimo grado representó un oficio. Cuarto año, militares; undécimo; bomberos; décimo: policías; noveno: taxistas; octavo, pilotos; y séptimo, constructores. Como de costumbre cada grado prepara un baile y el mismo es presentado antes de las competencias. El Harlem Shake no pudo faltar en nuestro Field Day. Octavo y noveno grado bailaron, brincaron y se movieron de pies a cabeza con este contagioso ritmo. Y ¿quién en nuestro colegio no ha bailado el Harlem Shake? Así quedaron las p o s i c i o n e s e n l a competencia de baile:
Primer lugar: 12mo
Segundo lugar: 10mo
Tercer lugar: 11mo
En la categoría intermedia:
Primer lugar: 9no
Segundo lugar: 8vo
Tercer lugar: 7mo
En los eventos deportivos:

Día del Amor y la Amistad
La celebración de San Valentín en el Colegio Rosa-Bell es la más esperada
del año. Es un día lleno de amistad, alegría y sobre todo, amor. Los pre-
parativos comienzan con la propaganda para el 14 de febrero casi un mes
antes. Así los estudiantes pueden ir ahorrando para poder agradar a sus
amigos y amigas con globos, chocolates y hasta serenatas, ¡y…qué serenatas! Cuarto año siempre se
encarga de llevar las serenatas por los salones y llevar un gran repertorio de canciones de amor.
Undécimo grado se encarga de los “ grams”, que no son otra cosa que un corazón rojo con un cho-
colate, estos son los más populares y los más solicitados. Nuestro Colegio se viste de rojo y blanco
éste día y celebramos en grande el día de la amistad y del amor.

Desde que inició este trimestre han despuntado exce-lentes actividades realizadas entre nuestros estudiantes en to-dos los niveles escolares, ya sea desde el preescolar hasta el duodécimo grado. Por solamente mencionar algunas, hemos tenido ferias científicas, tanto en el nivel superior como los proyectos que el periódico el Nuevo Día tituló “Luz en el Mu-seo Científico “donde fueron presentados trabajos de estudian-tes desde Kínder hasta sexto grado y amplio desarrollo y logros en la implantación del concepto STEM y participación en Robótica auspiciados por la Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico en donde fueron reconocidos nuestros estudiantes gana-dores por el astronauta Joseph Acabá. En el periódico Primera Hora se hizo patente una vez más el magnífico trabajo que reali-zan nuestros estudiantes en diferentes grados con el innovador y atractivo proyecto del “Huerto Escolar”, con un magnífico despliegue de fotos y comentarios sobre la gestión de aprendi-zaje y concienciación con la madre tierra y el cultivo de nues-tros productos, tarea reconocida y aplaudida por diferentes medios televisivos e instituciones educativas que nos han visita-do desde otras escuelas para conocer el desarrollo del mismo. Por otra parte, los estudiantes atletas se han distinguido en las diferentes disciplinas en las que han participado logrando en estos meses grandes triunfos en baloncesto, particularmente el JV Masculino, y varios estudiantes artistas en la clase de mosai-co llevaron sus trabajos a la Convención de Escuelas Privadas, además de que se ha desplegado una segunda pared de losetas con trabajos de dibujos y muestras de arte realizados por nues-tros estudiantes en el área de la cafetería. Hemos tenido obras de teatro en el “Paco Arriví” con una adaptación de la obra “Vejigantes”, Se ha realizado la Semana de Inglés, la Semana de Matemáticas, con juegos y competencias para aprendizaje y amplia participación de nuestros niños y jóvenes. También me-recen distinción la Competencia de Oratoria en Español, las galerías realizadas por los pequeñines y la aventura del viaje cultural hasta Europa, el disfrute y las giras estudiantiles a dife-rentes representaciones teatrales en el área metropolitana y las participaciones en torneos de ajedrez, “Spelling Bee”, Torneos Invitacionales Deportivos, “Field Days”, la entrega de sortijas a la Clase Sénior 2014 en su año Junior, Competencias en Quí-mica y Matemática así como nuestra participación en diferentes tareas académicas que enriquecen la propuesta educativa que se genera en el Colegio Rosa-Bell, institución que está celebrando en este año su cuadragésimo quinto año de fundación desde el momento visionario en el cual Rose P. Rodríguez y Rosa “Pupa Laó”, idearon llevar adelante este proyecto educativo.
