Context
• EdShare is the University share – EdSpace was the JISC funded project
• The objective - to provide an infrastructure that allows academics to share everyday educational resources with whatever audience is appropriate o built on Web 2.0 principles and with strategic
University leadership for educational change• ECS (academic group), EPrints (enterprise service),
Library and iSolutions (specialist professional academic services)

Where the Project is:
• We have been in service since September 2008• EdSpace Project funded period ended April 2009• Benefits Realisation:
o collaborative work to extend the take up of EdShare (2 institutions + 1 HEA subject centre)o 2 Assemblies – held as workshops based on core themes from
EdSpace (Web 2.0 and sharing; IPR)• New JISC-funded OneShare Project is supporting
further work:o Wrapped, implementable version of packageo User profile applicationo Preview toolo Implement shared editorial permissionso Integration between VLE (Blackboard) and EdShare

Motivations
• UK HE strategic drive for open educational resources• UoS has a new VC, and is developing a new education
strategy• We would like people to share
o Improve efficiency – less replicationo Improve resources for studento Improve communication
• EdShare’s lightweight, low threshold approach has won support
• We plan to review the role of the institutional VLE
