Dear Cattlemen,
Welcome to our 15th Annual bull sale. This year we are
moving to a live auction format. We value our customers who
have purchased bulls from us in previous years and we
welcome all customers who are here for the irst time. This
has truly been an exciting year to be in the cattle business
with record setting feeder calf prices. It is a great time to
invest in top genetics for your cowherd.
Our goal is to produce cows that are broody and deep
ribbed with lots of volume. The cows are bred to sires (both
A.I. and natural service) that are also deep bodied with
muscle, that also add carcass values without increasing size
or sacriicing our desired phenotype.
We understand the need for cattle that work for a living,
thus our herd is managed in the same way that ranchers
manage their commercial herds here in the Sandhills. We
believe in having a herd of highly maternal cows and that is
one reason we do not creep feed the calves prior to weaning.
We want the weaning weights to be a true relection of the
calves' own genetic potential, their dams milking ability and
what Mother Nature provides in the forage.
This year's sale offering is very exciting as we feel it is one
of the most consistent group of bulls across all sires of any we
have ever raised. As always you are welcome any time to see
the bulls here at Ashby prior to the sale.
The sale will start promptly at 2 pm (MDT) here at Ashby
on Sunday, March 29th. We'll serve a bowl of chili and all the
"ixins" after the sale.
