    The recruitment and retention of members is vital to all of our state associations. In thisfacilitated session, participants will enjoy a fun brainstorming exercise designed to be engaging

    you might even get to know your colleagues from other states better. Participants will

    generate ideas for recruiting new members and retaining existing ones, and will receive asummary following the meeting of practical ideas they take back to their state associations.

    The health of organizations such as ours depends heavily on the dedication and enthusiasm ofvolunteers. Getting the volunteer to step forward and then engage them are two very different,

    very difficult tasks that state leaders face. Participate in this interactive session as we discussspecific examples of what has and hasnt worked for us and what initiatives we are currentlyundertaking. Bring your best ideas, examples and be ready to volunteer. (Oops ... we mean speak up!)

    This update will provide timely information on the status of pertinent healthcare issues underconsideration by Congress and federal regulatory agencies. Attendees will learn about recentlegislative and regulatory developments affecting medical groups, gaining a deeperunderstanding of these changes and their impact on the day-to-day activities of medical grouppractices. Additionally, attendees will learn what resources are available to clarify these federalinitiatives.

    Planning an education program can be very tedious and time consuming. During this session,you will hear best practices for program planning such as using electronic tools, parceling outresponsibilities and utilizing the best resources when looking for topics. Attendees will be askedto brainstorm best practices and discuss challenges.

    to share highlights of their states activities as modeled after the COSL session from the 2011State Leaders Conference in Denver. Using the template provided, please bring 15 copies ofyour update to share with other state leaders.

During this interactive panel session, you will hear two case studies, including howthey went about accomplishing their goals and what their experiences were. You will walk awaybetter equipped to evaluate feasibility for your association.
