The EcorInternational Campus

The company decided to invest in continuous training and high technology as additional competitiveness element in current and future markets. In this context, if on the one hand, there is a continuous effort for the growth of core competences, on the other hand, the company is developing a network of collaborations and projects with universities and research centers, with a synergy between skills and capabilities perspective; from basic research to the development, prototyping and industrialization.

Ecor Research production model is evolving towards an integrated system of production & development, in which the R&D activities are not considered patrimonies merely of the company, but are performed and directed in close collaboration with its key customers.

The company evolution, therefore, is based on a gradual growth of the development area, supported by and integrated with the production area. This integration results in greater flexibility, which is pivotal in opening new markets.

In the municipality of Castelvetro di Modena, in Ca’ di Sola, there is an Ecor Research testing and analysis laboratory, where experts in Mechanical and Material Engineering carry out tests in the field of Advanced Mechanics for complex and added-value products.

This laboratory will be part of “The Ecor International Campus”, a research center managed in an integrated way, in close relationship with the head office in Schio, located in the municipality of Castelvetro di Modena, just two kilometers from the existent Ecor Research laboratory.

In the new site, located in a 37,000 square meter redeveloped area on Modena hills at the foot of the Apennines, specialized professionals will study and develop new materials and related enabling technologies: rapid manufacturing, tribology, material and structures corrosion studies, special material characterization.

A group of engineers will integrate design of mechanical systems with high efficiency and low cost (design to cost). Moreover, a specific section will be dedicated to the installation of a series of test benches for functional testing of new solutions in terms of advanced mechanics components.

The professionals working in the Campus will be about 50 at full speed and will be specialized resources such as physicists, chemists and engineers.

The Campus, moreover, will have technical and administrative offices, front office, food court area, lodgings and a conference room where conventions, meetings and specialized courses will take place.

This project will be part of a network of collaborations with the main reference centres in Emilia region, at national and international level. Strong attention will be paid to participation in R&D projects, calls at national (Regional, MIUR, MISE) and European level (e.g. RFCS programs, Horizon2020). Ecor Campus, in this context, intends to be a synthesis between knowing to think and know-how, features of many companies surrounding our industrial and technical/scientific activities.

A particularly fertile breeding ground for the transfer of technology to the Advanced Mechanics sector has been identified in the industrial structure of Emilia region, which ranks in a predominant position, acknowledged at international level, in the sector of basic research, above all in physics and mechanical engineering fields.

Ecor Research S.p.A. was founded in Schio, close to Vicenza, in the mid-70s as a trading stock of raw material in stainless steel at the service of small businesses located in the region.

In the following years, the volume of business significantly increased and a differentiation started: in particular, understanding the market needs, the founder, Mr. Sergio Lucietto, created and developed a machining department at the service of the material sale. In the 90s, the company developed also through a series of acquisition of other industrial businesses, becoming an industrial group known today as Ecor Research Group.

The company deals with design and prototyping and production of components critical from the safety and health point of view, assembly of electromechanical subsystem, design, development of test rig for integrated simulation and co-design and engineering services. Within a strategy of market diversification, the sectors in which it operates include Aerospace and Defense, Food Industry and Advanced Mechanics.

2016 AND THE MILESTONE OF 40 YEARS OF BUSINESS

Founded as a manufacturing workshop, in the course of time experienced a

constant evolution, that led the company to the creation of strategic alliances

with multinationals.

Welding and special processes are its core competences and the expertise

reached, always more specialized, contributed to make ECOR Research the

company it is today: increasingly oriented to the applied research world.

Aiming at the diversification of its markets and at reaching new goals, in a few

years has achieved ambitious certifications in Aerospace&Defense field and the

accreditation of important players.

Enabling Technologies and Research are the words that drive ECOR Research

strategies, whose production model is evolving with success towards an

integrated system of production and development.
