Internet protocol television May 1st 2008 From The Economist print edition Nearly a third of Hong Kong's households get their television service via the internet, according to a new report from Telecommunications Management Group, a consultancy. Internet protocol television (IPTV) uses the same technology that links together computer networks. In addition to the services provided by traditional broadcast television, IPTV also offers subscribers services such as on-demand video. Europe accounts for more than half of the world's subscribers to IPTV. Less than 1% of American households with a television use IPTV's extra services.
