• 2010: Cooperation of Committee on IT and Communications of Saint-Petersburg and Waste Management Administration of Saint-Petersburg
• The main target: to develop of Computer System Management of Production and Consumption Waste. Saint-Petersburg Information and Analytical Centre, subordinate enterprise to Committee on IT and Communications has been actively involved
• Cooperation between Saint-Petersburg Information and Analytical Centre and Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance for 6 years: several joint successful project under Cross Border Cooperation Programmes (Interreg and Tacis)
• Finpro as the key partner from Finnish side

to develop and maintain a modern sustainable ecological system for waste management and recycling technologies of industrial and domestic waste in the Programme region

– best expertise and practices in market research
– analyse of waste management systems (waste processing and recycling) in Finland

– organizing and recruiting experts for workshops in Finland and Russia
– carrying out conferences
– organization of B2B seminars
– organization of networking matchmaking event to establish business contacts
– developing of networking and promotion activities, including dissemination and raising
public awareness of studies

Possibilities for Finnish Companies
The project is targeted for the following groups of Finnish companies:
• Producers and suppliers of equipment for waste collection/sorting and further
processing to secondary raw materials
• Service providers for Russian waste collection/sorting and further processing to
secondary raw materials
• Users of waste as raw material and energy sources
• SMEs interested in purchasing or suppling waste
Possibilities for Finnish companies:
• Possibility to introduce products/services to the St. Petersburg / Russian waste
market (entry into these markets is complicated)
• Possibility to create a positive image on the St. Petersburg market
• Contacts with decision makers among the City Administration
• Possibility to participate in tenders provided by different Committees of the St.
Petersburg government (for instance, Department of Improvement)

• Project presentation within the visit of Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Finland - Aleksander Stubb - during the Finnish Business Event
• Participation in conference “Ecology of Big City”- best modern practices of waste management were discussed and shared
