    MASTER in EconomicsECONOMIC THEORY AND ECONOMETRICS

    AIMS AND SCOPE

    The Master 2 in "Economic Theory and Econometrics" allows students to acquire a thorough,general training (in economic theory, econometrics, industrial organisation, etc.) beforechoosing a specific area of research.

    This master is specially designed for students interested in economic theory, econometrics,industrial organisation, macroeconomics and other theoretical and applied fields. It offers alarge range of courses that allow students to start a PhD in the best possible conditions,particularly those who have not yet chosen their research topic.

    PROGRAMME STRENGTHS

    The associated research departments support students:- Research department in mathematical and quantitative economics – GREMAQ- Quantitative research department applied to economic development – ARQADE- Research department in natural resource economics – LERNA- Cross-disciplinary research centre for human resources and employment - LIRHE

    This high-level master provides a broad vision of economics and is a great springboard intooriginal research.

    CURRICULUM

    Standard Track

    Students must complete 8 graduate courses of 36 hours (4 at the 1 st Semester and 4 at the 2 nd semester) and either write a Master thesis or an internship report under the supervision of aTSE faculty. Courses are listed hereafter:

    Doctoral Track

    Students on the doctoral track must complete five courses among the common corecourses of the doctoral path:• Microeconomics I• Macroeconomics I• Econometrics I• Microeconomics II• Macroeconomics II• Econometrics II

    The three other courses can be chosen among all the other courses offered in the standardtrack.

    Students are required to choose four courses during the first semester and four courses duringthe second semester. They also have to write a Master thesis in application to the PhDcourse.

    Admission

    Admission is based on academic excellence criteria. An undergraduate degree of at least 4years of college or a Master’s degree is required, within a recognized curriculum consideredas consistent with the programme and approved by the TSE Committee. Some brushing-upin Economics or Maths might be advisable in some cases. Working knowledge of English isobviously required.

    Application deadlinesApplications are considered from November to middle of March for international students andin May/June for French Universities graduates.
