ecco was founded in 1963 by karl toosbuy, an

entrepreneurial spirit who sold all his possessions, moved

his family to the rural danish town of bredebro and started

the company.

For more than 50 years, we have produced high-quality

shoes according to his precise vision – combine innovative

technology, scandinavian design and traditional

craftsmanship with a keen understanding of how the

human foot functions.

still headquartered in denmark, our goal is to be the best

shoe company in the world by sticking to our philosophy

that is to make shoes that are shaped to fit the foot, not the

other way around.

while other brands outsource production, we own state-

of-the-art factories, allowing us to perfectly control every

step in the shoemaking process, from cow to consumer.

we are a true multinational business, yet remain family

owned and run.

our founder was a golfer. his son-in-law, ecco ceo

dieter kasprzak, plays at every opportunity. drawing from

many decades experience as a designer, he also heads

development of every shoe in the golf collection.

our support for the sport includes long-term sponsorships

of the european solheim cup team, the ecco tour –

one of europe’s major developmental circuits – and the

sønderjyske eagles golf club – a team of top-ranked

danish boys and girls.

Used to create all ecco golf shoes, this advanced process

chemically bonds the upper and outsole unit, creating a

one-piece shoe construction without the use of glue or

stitching. benefits include:

a patented outsole design first introduced on the famed

golF street model, the ecco dynamic traction system

consists of approximately 100 molded traction bars.

constructed from tpU – a highly durable, wear-resistant

material – these elements boast 800-plus traction angles

to provide excellent grip in all conditions.

drawing from our position as a top-five global producer of

luxury leathers, all ecco golf shoes feature the finest, full-

grain hides treated exclusively at our own tanneries. this

allows us to innovate in ways other companies would find

impossible.

the yak is a remarkable creature that lives in alpine rangeland of the tibetan

plateau, an area where few other animals can survive. it thrives in the harsh

mountainous landscape thanks to a unique hide that protects it in the warm

summers and cold winters.

yak hide creates extremely strong leather and offers exceptional abrasion

resistance. the strength of the leather is due to the compact woven collagen

fiber and closed fine grain. this makes it possible for us to cut the hides very thin.

the result is lightweight, highly-breathable and extremely durable leather that’s

ideal for golf shoes.

the gold standard in long-lasting waterproof protection, this

material keeps feet dry and comfortable in all conditions.

a thin membrane is placed between the leather upper

and lining, preventing external wetness from penetrating

while allowing the foot’s natural moisture to escape.

an ecco-developed treatment used to make leather

highly water repellent. this special process actually

keeps the leather from hardening after repeated wetting

and drying, keeping it strong and durable, yet soft and

breathable.

ideally, leather should be treated with ecco shoe care

products after every wetting in order to retain its water-

repellent features.

THE START OF IT ALLthe shoe that sparked a revolution was born from the simple notion that a golf shoe

can be more than a golf shoe. relying on our 50 years of shoemaking expertise, we

developed an all-day outsole that marked one of the most significant advances

in the history of golf footwear. initially labeled by some as a “concept shoe,” golF

street was worn at the 2010 Masters by Fred couples and became an instant

global phenomenon, the effects of which continue to this day.
