SSince the very first CNCK servo-hydraulic press brake in 1980, Safan

has been world leader in the development of innovations for sheet-

metal working. Safan introduced the patented servo-electronic brake

press (SMK) in 1995, the hybrid guillotine cutter in 1999 and the

first full electronic press brake in 2004, the SAFAN E-Brake. With

this pioneering machine concept Safan unleashed the 'e-volution in

sheet-metal working', a development in which the application of inno-

vative electronic technology assumes a central role. Safan has

assumed a leading role in that development as inventor of the elec-

tronic press brake with pulley drive. After the first generation 'Original

E-Brake' with pressure forces up to 100T, the middle-weight E-Brake

150T and E-Brake 200T followed in 2006. Saran surprised the

sheet-metal working world a short while later with the SAFAN I-Brake,

the intelligent press brake with two integrated robots. Both the

SAFAN E-Brake 200T and the SAFAN I-Brake won the Techni-Show

Innovation Award (among others). And the e-volution In sheet-metal

working continues undiminished. After all, top performances in

terms of efficiency, economy, ergonomics and ecology are needed

now more now than they ever were in order to stay ahead of

the competitors in the world of sheet-metal working manufac-

turers. With the SAFAN E-Brake ‘Dual Drive’ 300T, Safan has

now ensured that the unique advantages of the E-Brake tech-

nology are viable for the heavy-duty segment with pressure

forces up to 300 T. This breakthrough was only possible

thanks to a new Safan invention; the 'Dual Drive' drive with

double pulley system. Together with the newly developed lower

beam and the new E-Control touch screen controls, this

results in an unprecedented increase in performance in the

heavy-duty segment. The SAFAN E-Brake Dual Drive 300T: a

new milestone for SAFAN, a potential head start for you.

wide E-Brake technology.

The machines of up to 100T are

built according to a modular con-

cept, ensuring an advance in the

efficiency of machine technology.

SAFAN has used this new modular

concept to introduce a very com-

petitively priced basic version on to

the market, the SAFAN E-Brake B,

bringing the unique E-Brake tech-

nology within everyone’s reach.

The SAFAN E-Brake B is available

in 4 models: 35T-1250, 50T-2050,

80T-2550 and 100T-3100. The

standard version is impressive, but

limited in comparison with the

standard SAFAN E-Brake range

which has a number of advanced

options. There are two tool clamping

systems to choose from. By keeping

the design more ‘basic’, SAFAN

has succeeded in offering a techni-

cally superior press brake for an

attractive price.

SIncredibly stable backgauge with CNC-

controlled X and R axes

Newly developed construction means that the innovative

backgauge system of the SAFAN E-Brake is extremely

stable. The backgauge is used across the entire length

of the machine. Moreover, it is very precise through the

electronic transfer system (0.02 mm). The backgauge

has a positioning speed of 350 mm/sec. CNC-controlled

X and R axes are standard.

Tool clamping system

As standard the machine is equipped with either the

European style tool clamping (ES model) or the New

Servo-electronic bending with an E for even bending

Without crowning you obtain the most accurate and constant bending angle along

the full range of the machine. The unique, patented roller drive system in the upper

beam ensures a uniform and even distribution of forces. A balanced combination of

powerful electro-motors, fixed and movable rollers and specially developed belts faci-

litate capacities of up to 300T.

IInnovation with an E for efficiency

The greatest innovation of the SAFAN E-Brake is the way in which

the machines are built. Thanks to the new modular concept, the four

machines in the Basic range can be produced more efficiently and

delivered faster. Depending on the tooling clamping system chosen

the standard daylight opening (Q-dimension) is 590 or 650 mm.

The special construction of the SAFAN E-Brake

contributes to the even absorption of large forces.

The O-frame acts as a single unit and deformation is

kept to an absolute minimum. It is more stable,

stronger and produces less deformation than a

conventional C-frame.

Up to 30% shorter cycle times

Achieve more in less time. That’s a given fact with the

SAFAN E-Brake B. Thanks to incredibly short reaction

and stop times, bending speeds of up to 20 mm/sec

can be achieved. Cycle times are also far shorter than

with conventional press brakes. In comparison tests,

the SAFAN E-Brake is shown to be up to 30% faster

than a conventional press brake. Cycle times for this

product (see image below):

Up to 50% energy saving

The SAFAN E-Brake only uses energy when the top

beam is actually moving. This can deliver an energy

saving of up to 50% compared with conventional

hydraulic press brakes.

Ecologically sound production

The absence of hydraulics means that the problems

associated with environmentally harmful and risky oil

are a thing of the past. There is no need to adjust

the settings of pressure relief valves – with the risk

of mistakes and drift – and there are no filters to be

checked and replaced. The servo-electronic system

is therefore far more reliable than the hydraulic one,

because of the lack of oil, tanks, pumps, seals, valves

and filters. And you will never have trouble with a cold

start up.

Integrated safety

The SAFAN E-Brake B has an integrated safety

system with a safety light guard that is automati-

cally controlled from the SAFAN TS controls. In

addition, the machine has a further in-built safe-

ty provision. The application of a spring return

means that the top beam will always move

upwards in the event of a failure.

Ease of use with an E for ergonomic

The SAFAN Touch Screen control system is the most efficient and simple Man-Machine Interface of

its time. Only those buttons are visible on the screen that are needed when using the controls. The

controls work on a PC running under Microsoft Windows®. Instructions are sent from the SAFAN TS

controls to a central processor which in turn, directs the various axes.

New design 17" Touch Screen control

The SAFAN E-Brake has a newly developed control unit

with a 17”Touch Screen. The adjustable height of the

control unit ensures optimum ergonomics for any ope-

rator whether short or tall. A standard accessory is a

100MB Ethernet UTP network connection that opens

up unlimited possibilities. The instructions from the

SAFAN TS control are sent to a central processor,

which in turn activates the various axes by means of a

so called CAN-BUS (Control Area Network).

The system can be programmed very quickly and accu-

rately thanks, among other things, to a “self learning”

database of materials, tools and previous (corrected)

bendings.

The standard SAFAN TS1 control uses a numerical

bending-parameter entry and representation and can

optionally be equipped with the new software module

SAFAN Easy 2D. This software module makes it possible

to make simple 2D drawings, generate bending pro-

gram’s and make bending simulations.

Options for graphical 2D/3D display

The optional SAFAN TS2 control makes it possible to

show externally programmed 2D and 3D products on

the control
