1 Key Highlights 03 cumulative cases (00 probable 03 confirmed) All (03) confirmed cases have died (CFR =100%) Today is day 3 since the death of the last confirmed case who passed on the 13 June 2019 while on transfer to the DRC for further management There are 90 contacts under follow up o 88 were followed up today o None has developed symptoms to date 03 suspect cases on admission in ETU, samples sent to UVRI; 2 tested negative for Ebola by PCR o Result for the new suspect in ETU still pending Active case search and death surveillance are ongoing in the health facilities and the communities as the district response team continue to investigate all alerts 48 contacts have been vaccinated today The Queen Mother was buried today. Several interventions were put in place; hand washing facilities, screening of all people attending the burial, securing of all entrances, footbaths set up and education of the masses about EVD Key Challenge Poor logistics and supply chain management causing delays in the response. Most of the challenges experienced are related to logistics and the supply chain including transport, equipment, medical sundries, WASH supplies, internet connectivity, job aides and financial facilitation of EVD response team on duty.     EPIDEMIOLOGICALSUMMARY

    BackgroundOn11thJune2019,theMinistryofHealthofUgandadeclaredthe6thoutbreakofEbolaVirusDisease(EVD)inthecountryaffectingKasesedistrictinSouthWesternUganda.Thefirstcasewasafive-year-oldchildwitharecenthistoryoftraveltotheDemocraticRepublicofCongo(DRC).Thischildwasoneof6peoplethattravelledfromtheDRCwhilestillbeingmonitoredassuspectcasesfollowingaburialofthegrandfatherwhosuccumbedtoEVD.ThechildwasillbythetimehecrossedintoUgandaandthemothertookhimformedicalcareatKagandohospitalinKasesedistrictwithsymptomsofvomitingblood,bloodydiarrhea,musclepain,headache,fatigueandabdominalpain.ThechildtestedpositiveforEbolaZairebyPCRandhelaterdiedon11thJune2019.Twoothermembersofthefamily,agrandmotherand3-year-oldbrotheralsotestedpositiveforEbolaon12June2019andthegrandmotherdiedlaterthesameday.The3-year-oldbrotheralsodiedonthe13June2019.Asoftoday,thereisnoconfirmedEVDcaseinUganda,however3suspectcasesareadmittedatBweraEbolaTreatmentUnit.Ninety(90)contactsarebeingfollowedup.Figure1:MovementoftheEVDcasesfromCongointoUganda

    CoordinationToday,theDistrictEVDTaskForcemeetingwasheldtodiscussactionpointsraisedduringtheDTFheldon15thJuneandthefeedbackfromthedifferentsub-committeesfollowingtheactivitiesconductedandothermattersarisinginresponsetoEVDoutbreakintheDistrict.Alistofpersonnelandvehiclessupportingtheresponsewasupdatedandsharedwiththedistrictfordiscussion.Thecompleteresponseplanandbudgetisplannedforsubmissiontomorrow.Keyissuesdiscussedincluded;

    - SocialmobilisationteamtosharekeymessageswiththeDTFandalsoharmonisetheirmessagesacrossalltheirsubteams

    - Continuewithmobilisationoflocalresourcesandredistributionofsurpluscommodities- Intensifysocialmobilizationtounderstandissuesofconcerninthecommunity- Encouragedriskcommunication,surveillanceandpsychosocialteamstomoveandworktogetherastheyaddress

    relatedissues- Intensificationofsurveillanceforanupcomingcrossbordertraditionalmarriageceremony- Moreinvolvementofpoliticalleadersintheresponse

    SurveillanceUgandastillrecords3cumulativeconfirmedcaseswhohavealldiedgivingacasefatalityrateof100%(3/3).Currentlythereare3suspectcasesadmittedintheETU.All3caseshavenorelationwiththeconfirmedcases.Two(2)alerts(1death,1alive)were received todayand investigatedwithin24hours.Thecases reportnoepidemiological link to theconfirmedcases;thecasesaredescribedbelow;Firstsuspect;a3-yearoldmaleresidentofSelelevillage,KasangaParish,Bwerasub-countyadmittedon14JuneonthepaediatricwardofKagandoHospital.Aprovisionaldiagnosisofsevereaspirationpneumoniaandseveremalariawasmadeonadmission.However,referringtohismedicalnotes,childwasbleedingfromthegums.Abloodsamplewaspickedfromthecase,resultsarepending;hediedon15Juneat14hours.Secondsuspect;3-yearoldboyadmittedatStPaulHCIV,fromKizunguvillage,NyakasangawardKasesemunicipality.Presentedwithfever,vomitingbloodandnosebleeding.VerifiedasasuspectedcaseandtransferredtoBweraETU.Abloodsamplehasbeencollectedfromhimandresultsarepending.Additionally,4newcontactswere listed today,givinga cumulative totalof90contacts to theconfirmedcases;61 inKagandoand29inBwera.Wefollowedup98%(88/90)ofcontactsinKagando,BweraandMpondweareasand2contactsdeclinedtemperaturemonitoringinKagando.NoneofthecontactshasdevelopedsymptomsconsistentwithEVD.Theteamscreened532peopleattendingaserviceatKathemboRomanCatholicChurch.Twenty-six(26)newporousentrypointshavebeenidentifiedandscreeningstartedLaboratoryCumulativesamplestestedtodateisfifteen.
