Welcome to EBAN 2015! Dear Members of the Global Innovation, Entrepreneurial and Early-Stage Market Players and Investor Community It is with the greatest joy that on behalf of the members of the EBAN Board, the EBAN President Advisory Council, the President and Board Members of MBAN (MENA) and ABAN (Africa), and BAN Nederland I would like to welcome you to the EBAN 2015 Angel Summit – Creating, Financing and Building Global Success Stories made in the EMEA. Following on from last year’s EBAN 2014 and the “Power of the Collective”, the next three days that we spend together will be a “Celebration” of our entrepreneurs, our incubators, our accelerators, our amazing Angel community, our investments, our successes, as well as our partnerships in venture and entrepreneurial finance with the European Business Incubation Network (EBN), the European Crowd Funding Network (ECN), European Venture Capital Association (EVCA), Corporations, Stock Exchanges

and the European Investment Fund (EIF) all the while interacting with policy makers and governments around the world. EBAN is also very proud to participate with its European partners in a number of European Commission Horizon 2020 projects – Future Internet Business, Invest Horizon, and Eureka. We are excited about showcasing our combined work during our EBAN Open Forum Day on 06 May culminating in the first ever Global Investor Forum in partnership with our EBAN Institute and e-Xcelerator Demo Day and then throughout the Congress with Entrepreneur Elevator Pitches, presentations and the like. We look forward to sharing our new initiatives with you -- the Creation of the E-Zone, the WIN-WEN (Women Investors Network – Women Entrepreneurs Network), the EBAN e-Xcelerator program to forge a deeper relationship between Corporations, Accelerators and Business Angels the world over with the Global Accelerator Network (GAN) as well as our continued focus on helping create entrepreneurial Eco-Systems and business angel investment in emerging markets. Research continues to be a pillar of EBAN’s activity and during the Congress we will be presenting our ongoing work on our annual tax-incentive and co-investment compendiums as well as a new guidebook on Business Angel Co-Investment with European Structural Funds. Our Committees be they Research, Horizon 2020, CoIN, Impact Investment help us all grow and are a wonderful channel for our members to actively contribute to this growth. And speaking of research, we are most excited about our new relationship with the European Research Council to help us identify the best sectors for our investments. There are no geographic borders anymore in the entrepreneurial, innovative and early-stage investment community and this is evidenced not only by the recent creation of MBAN and ABAN, but also our combined partnership with the Global Business Angel Network (GBAN) and Global Accelerator Network (GAN). We are also particularly pleased to welcome our colleagues from the USA -- New York Angels, ACA, Start-Up Angels, and the Kauffmann Foundation who have made a special trip to be with us. It is our hope that this global gathering will not only result in networking, sharing of best practices and learning from each other, but also in cross-border and cross continent investments and successes. An Angel Summit would not be complete without Elevator Pitches and so we are thrilled to have the best entrepreneurs from our EBAN Open Forum present throughout the Congress on 07 and 08 May as well as having a live Crowd-Funding session to boot! And finally, dear colleagues, we need to make certain to grow and scale-up our entrepreneurial companies to be global success stories. This can be done only by making certain that our investments also result in exits and building an asset class – a subject which will be presented on 08 May in depth. In conclusion we would like to extend a special thank you to our long-time partners, GUST and our new partners, the European Space Agency for accompanying us on this journey as we expand our horizons literally and virtually, to our sponsors of EBAN 2015 and of EBAN and to you, dear members of the global innovation, entrepreneurial and early-stage market players and investor Community. Now let us celebrate together! Candace Johnson President EBAN

Ramphastos Ramphastos Investments N.V. is the investment company of Marcel Boekhoorn, a well known Dutch private equity investor and entrepreneur, which currently holds (primarily majority) interests in over 30 companies in various sectors. Marcel Boekhoorn began his career in 1981 with Deloitte & Touche, where he became the youngest partner ever in The Netherlands, as chartered accountant (‘register accountant - RA'). In 1994, he launched his own venture capital and private equity investment firm Ramphastos Investments, which he still leads today. Marcel Boekhoorn has led several companies - mainly operating in niche markets - into growth, expansion and market leadership, by pursuing a buy-and-build strategy as well as attracting new customers, business partners and the strongest management teams. He not only actively supports portfolio companies by assisting them in the definition of their strategies, but also plays a key role in helping them achieve their business objectives. By creating market leaders, Mr. Boekhoorn and his team frequently attract buyers for their businesses, realizing three digit IRR's or more. Examples of successful exits are Bakker Bart largest chain of Bakery stores in The Netherlands, sold to German stock listed company Kamps AG, Cocachoc (chocolate and biscuits, sold to Suchard, Kraft Foods), Novaxess (telephony and dsl provider, sold to Easynet, part of the BSkyB Group), Telfort (mobile network operator, sold to Dutch stock listed incumbent Royal KPN) and Motip Dupli (European market leader in spray paints for the automotive and DIY markets, sold to UK based Intermediate Capital Group and management). In addition to many private equity successes, Mr. Boekhoorn and his team have also realized a strong track record in venture capital and entrepreneurial investments, having successfully started several greenfield businesses. www.ramphastosinvestments.com

Symbid People all over the world are becoming better connected, leading to cheaper, faster and simpler access to products and services. Yet the current flow of funding does not reflect this new reality. The entrepreneurs and investors who form the small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) backbone of our economies frequently experience obstacles and barriers when seeking to connect, fund and grow. We must re-think our access to capital. Our mission is to simplify the way small businesses are funded through efficient and transparent technology. Founded in the Netherlands in 2011 as one of the world’s first investment crowdfunding platforms, Symbid was early in identifying the need for data-driven SME finance and invested in developing advanced investing, monitoring and data tools. We used our early mover advantage in crowdfunding to push ahead with paradigm-shifting technologies that connect alternative and traditional finance with standardized data protocols. In March 2015, Symbid launched its solution to the SME funding problem: The Funding Network™. The Funding Network™ gives entrepreneurs direct access to all forms of finance, while offering investors full transparency on the potential risks and returns of their portfolio – all made possible by our online investing and monitoring technology. www.symbid.com

Message from the Global Business Angels Network Executive Committee

Cross-border collaboration and syndication among angels and angel federations has come a long way since the initiation of the European Business Angel Network in 1999. The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation launched the Angel Capital Association in 2005 and the Portuguese Federation of Angels initiated the World Business Angel Association launched in 2009. We thank those leaders and all those associated with these efforts for their pioneering work. They have laid the groundwork for the launch of the next generation global network, open to all serious non-institutional funders of entrepreneurial ventures: the Global Business Angels Network (GBAN). GBAN is an initiative of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), the community of programs and policy initiatives now in 150 countries born out of Global Entrepreneurship Week initiated and funded by the Kauffman Foundation. GBAN was launched at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Milan in 2015. While membership is free, it requires angel organizations to fill out an application as either a national member (one representative per country), or a general member (other organizations involved in developing the angel movement). There are no categories for service providers, academic institutions or SME members as GBAN serves the angel investor movement alone. GBAN will connect with other constituencies through GEN. We hope you will join us to elevate the role of angels with policymakers and entrepreneurial ecosystems throughout the world. Sincerely,

GLOBAL  ENTREPRENEURSHIP  NETWORK  |  2400  N  STREET  NW,  SUITE  603  |  WASHINGTON,  DC  20037

g b a n . c o

I. Background The Global Business Angels Network (GBAN) is a global community of business angel networks and organizations coordinated by the Global Entrepreneurship Network, Inc. (GEN). GBAN brings greater public awareness and engagement to the role that business angels play in helping new firms start and scale. GBAN interfaces with entrepreneurs, policymakers, other early-stage finance actors and leading entrepreneurial support programs to strengthen the global entrepreneurial ecosystem. Whether helping local entrepreneurial ecosystems recruit more investors, expanding geographic investment arenas beyond local markets or amplifying the angel “voice” to regulatory issue discussions, GBAN seeks to provide an inclusive, supportive community of early-stage investors around the world. GEN is a year-round platform of programs and initiatives created by the communities that celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) each November. Aimed at creating one global entrepreneurial ecosystem, GEN helps people in 150 countries unleash their ideas and turn them into promising new ventures—creating jobs, unearthing innovations for society and strengthening economic stability around the world. For details on the programs and initiatives that make up GEN, visit weareGEN.co.

II. Principles of GBAN

GBAN promotes knowledge sharing and collaboration for and with other key actors in local and global entrepreneurial ecosystems. GBAN seeks to:

• Connect business angels with other actors in entrepreneurial ecosystems around

the world; • Increase public awareness regarding the role of business angels within

entrepreneurial ecosystems including advancing the concerns of existing angels, welcoming new investors and increasing the overall ability of new firms to gain access to angel investors worldwide; and

• Develop angel investor groups in burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystems and help foster more communication between angel organizations around the world.

III. Member Interface

GBAN provides an opportunity for angels and their advocates to more actively participate in building and strengthening local and regional entrepreneurial ecosystems, helping to enhance connections with startup communities and policymakers and provide invaluable knowledge sharing and resources for all those who work with entrepreneurs. GBAN does not participate in lobbying activities or fundraising.

GLOBAL  ENTREPRENEURSHIP  NETWORK  |  2400  N  STREET  NW,  SUITE  603  |  WASHINGTON,  DC  20037

g b a n . c o

GBAN members have the opportunity to:

• Share ideas, developments in their initiatives, lessons learned, and other knowledge and experiences using the GBAN website as a platform posting once a quarter;

• Participate in Global Business Angel Day (GBAD), a day that enables early-stage investors to connect with community leaders and local media through events and competitions, local programs for entrepreneurs, policy research and growing regional networks, during GEW, the annual celebration of entrepreneurship each November that adds energy to advancing entrepreneurship worldwide;

• Attend the annual GBAN Global Angels Summit held as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) each March; and

• Connect with other angel organizations for national or regional activities and objectives.

IV. Types of memberships and decision-making structure

Executive Committee: Five GBAN Co-chairs lead the community with voting rights on items such as membership applications and GBAN strategic direction and activities.

National Lead Members: One member per country with strong ties to multiple angel organizations and a leading voice in that national angel market that assumes the responsibility for communicating on behalf of that nations angel investor communities locally within the broader national entrepreneurial ecosystem and globally. Members: Organizations involved in building the angel ecosystem that apply to be a member on-line and are accepted by the Co-chairs.

V. Membership Criteria GBAN welcomes new members from around the world. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis within 30 days of being submitted.

The GBAN Executive Committee selects one organization per country to serve as the interface between that nation’s angel community and GBAN efforts. Criteria include:

Members are required to: o Participate in quarterly community calls at least once a year; and participate in

Global Business Angels Day with GEW. Members are encouraged to:

o Attend the GBAN Annual Meeting at the GEC each March to interface with other angel associations and groups. Dates and locations are provided two years in advance.

o Use the GBAN online community management system (supported by Basecamp) as a global project management tool for collaborating and executing mutual plans.

Members remain members as long as they are active and engaged. Where there is more than one party interested in assuming the national lead role, the Executive Committee will select one organization to serve as National Lead Member for two years, at which time if others are still interested, rotating national leadership will be suggested. The Executive Committee also reserves the right to ask National Members to convert to General Members if that National Member becomes inactive. There is currently no membership fee. However, in March 2017, the GBAN Executive Committee and National Members will re-consider the matter again assessing progress over the first two years. Evaluation Membership Criteria

• GBAN as a community welcomes all established angel networks and groups to join a global network of like-minded individuals.

• Organizations established less than one year are not eligible to apply for National Lead Membership but may become General Members. Selected National Lead Member applicants should show a commitment to advancing connections between angel investors, the ecosystem they operate within and entrepreneurs. Selected applications should also show a commitment to working together with others, large and small, within the early-stage investing community both within their home country and globally.

Applications will be reviewed by the Executive Committee, which may seek counsel and input from experts and the local GEN teams now in 160 countries.
