LG Electrotonics to Hike Home Appliances Prices upto 2%

• LG has decided to blow the begul by raising the prices on its home appliances by 1%-2% by 15 September.

• The main reason for raising the prices is increase in input costs by around 5%.

• LG’s competitors like Samsung,Videocon are not ready to do so.

• Samsung,Videocon dosen’t want to hurt the sentiments of the consumers by raising the prices in the festive season.

• Competitors are ready to absorb the high costs.

• Chains such as CCD and Costa Coffee have raised the prices to cope with Arabica’s biggest global rally.

• Arabica,the world’s most grown coffee,has become almost 50% more expensive in last three months 7 touched a 13-year high last week.

• Nestle(Nescafe) & Tata Coffee are also likely to raise the prices shortly.

AstraZeneca Inks Licensing Supply Deal with Intas

• London-based global biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca,has entered into a licensing & supply agreement with Ahmedabad-based Intas pharmaceutical company.

• AstraZeneca will source products manufactured & Intas pharma’s matoda facility on an exclusive basis.

• The supply deal is for 30 products, predominantly for generic oncology products for the emerging markets.

• Currently India exports generic oncology products in US,Europe & Latin America.

• Intas pharma,becomes the 4th Gujarat-based pharma company to enter into licensing & supply deal with MNC.

• The Claris Lifescience was the 1st one to enter into deal with Pfizer,followed by Torrent pharma with,& the Abott laboratories with Zydus Cadila.

• Intas alraedy has similar product supply agreement with US-based retail chain-Wall Green.

GE to Set up Plant in India,hire 3,000

• GE plans to setup a new manufacturing plant at a potential investment of up to $50 million in India.

• Location will be finalised by the end of this year.

• Construction of plant will start next year.

• 3,000 people for its technology centre will be hired.
