COMFORT SELECT FOR BATHTUBS

EXPLANATION

Take a little time and read the installation

instructions of the electronic Comfort

Select fitting carefully.

In these installation instructions, the

pictograms described below are used.

They refer to instructions and notes which

require your special attention.

• Kaldewei has prepared these installa-

tion instructions to be as accurate as

possible.

• Kaldewei reserves the right to change

the contents of the installation instruc-

tions without being obliged to inform

third parties.

• Kaldewei reserves the right to modify

and to improve the technical portion

without being obliged to inform third

parties. Please read the attached ad-

dendum, if necessary.

• No part of these installation instruc-

tions may be reproduced or transferred

otherwise without the express approval

of Kaldewei.

On the Comfort Select electronic fitting,

you will get a legal warranty of two years.

Old or defective equipment units are to be

disposed of in an environmentally compat-

ible manner in accordance with the legal

requirements.

BINDING INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The installation of the bathtub,

electrical connection and correction

of faults and defects shall only be

performed by a specialized com-

pany able to prove to the pertinent

authorities its know-how and com-

petence in terms of the application

of national safety regulations, e.g.

water supply/discharge.

The Comfort Select electronic fit-

ting for bathtubs should only be

installed in the Kaldewei bathtubs

provided for this purpose.

When mounting and connecting the

fitting, protect the surface of the

bath tub from damage.

For maintenance work, the use of

angle valves is recommended.

The electronic Comfort Select fitting

is basically maintenance free. Two

protective sieves are included in

the scope of supply which prevent

clogging of the fitting by impurities

contained in the tap water.

The protective sieves are inserted

at the fitting or angle valves. If the

protective sieves are not inserted,

any warranty claims become void.

For water connection only use pres-

sure-resistant hoses or lines.

When the water pressure decreases

the protective sieves have to be

cleaned by a specialist company.

For installation DIN EN 1717 must

be observed. When a drain and

overflow fitting with integrated inlet

is used a pipe interrupter is to be

provided.

After installation of the fitting a leak

test is to be carried out.

If the components are converted,

the guarantee becomes void.

All work has to be carried out using

special technical tools.

INSTALL CONTROL UNIT

For installing the control unit, the following

instructions are to be followed:

• The surface on which the control unit is

cemented shall be dry, free of dust and

grease.

• For cleaning of the surface area, only

use suitable solutions, such as pure

ethanol or isopropanol (100 %) and a

lint-free cloth.

• The recommended application tem-

perature for the cementing area is 15°-

35° C. For cementing, the bathtub and

cementing area should have the same

temperature, if possible.

• Press on the control unit at a pressure

of about 25 kg (20N/cm2 contact pres-

sure).

• After cementing the control unit in

place, let the bathtub rest for 30 min-

utes. After this period, only 50 % of

the adhesive forces is reached - 100 %

adhesive fore after 24 hours.

DETACH CONTROL UNIT

Recommendation in case the control unit

has to be detached from the bathtub:

• Carefully sever the cementing area be-

tween control unit and bathtub using a

piano wire (see illustration on page 34)

or a sharp blade.

• Remove residues on the surfaces using

suitable solutions, such as adhesive

removers.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

The electrical connection and cor-

rection of faults and defects should

only be effected by a specialist

company.

For the electrical connection of the

Comfort Select electronic fitting, a

supply line 3 x 1.5 mm2 should be

available at the installation site.

In the supply line, a main switch

isolating all poles with a contact

opening of at least 3 mm for

switching off the control unit should

be provided (non-use, servicing

work).

The installation of the Comfort

Select electronic fitting is planned

for a supply with AC voltage of 230

V 50/60 Hz.

The electrical connection of the

control unit shall be protected by

a 16 A fuse and be only made via

a residual current-operated circuit

breaker (30 mA).

The electronic fitting Comfort Select

which is under active or inactive

mains voltage (230 V) must be

inaccessible to persons using the

bath.

Only a certified electrical fitter is

allowed to open the control unit.

Any warranty claims will become

void on unauthorized opening of the

control unit.

F1 SCALDING PROTECTION INITIATED

Meaning: Excess temperature

The fitting interrupted the supply line since an unallowable

temperature > 43° C was detected.

Cause: Cold water failure

Remedy: Ensure sufficient cold water supply

Check supply line (connection fault)

Check cold water supply (cold water turned off)

After switching-off due to excess temperature, successful reswitching-on is only

possible after cooling of the fitting.

F2 THERMAL DISINFECTION NOT POSSIBLE

Meaning: Undertemperature during disinfection

The fitting terminated disinfection since the necessary temperature of

65 °C was not reached.

Cause: Supply temperature too low

Remedy: Ensure sufficient hot water supply

Check hot water supply

F6/F9 COMMUNICATION ERROR

Meaning: Communication fault operating unit (F6) <> control unit (F9)

Cause: No or disturbed communication

a) Interruption of the line connection - Check plug-in connection

b) Hardware defect - With permanent and/or frequent occurrence of

the error, a hardware defect is to be assumed

Remedy: Turn off/on fitting (observe waiting time of about 10 s)

Service (repair or replacement)

F7 UNDERVOLTAGE

Meaning: Safety shutdown due to undervoltage

Cause: a) Defect of the power pack - service

b) Operation of the fitting outside the allowable voltage range

Remedy: Turn on/off fitting (adhere to a waiting time of about 10 s)

- Check mains voltage

Service (repair or replacement )

F8 ERROR SENSOR HARDWARE

Meaning: Safety shutdown due to hardware error

Cause: Implausible values in temperature measurement

a) Defect of the temperature sensor - service

b) Operation of the fitting outside the temperature range (5..70° C)

- Check supply temperatures

Remedy: Turn on/off fitting (observe waiting time of about 10 s)

Service (repair or replacement)
