Off-line FiltrationDuring off-line filtration the filter is in a circuit separated from the main operation stream. By separating the streams, off-line filtration can function as long as it takes for the operating fluid to reach the necessary cleanliness, regardless of the system’s running time.
Oil Service Equipment for Hydraulic and Lubrication Systems
US Series – Stationary Filter UnitsEaton's Internormen US series stationary filter units are meant for fine filtration, filling, or flushing of hydraulic systems. Equipped with a gear pump driven by an electric motor, the US filter units is available in different sizes for different volume flows, and with various filter elements, depending on the needed filtration fineness.
The US series filter units have a plate heat exchanger, making it an ideal tool for
maintenance and service personnel to cool and clean hydraulic and/or lubrication oil. Tests show that a 50 °F (10 °C) temperature reduction doubles the lifetime of operating hydraulic oil. Lower oil temperatures also prevent additional side effects of thermal degradation such as seal failure and loss of film strength on the surface of hydraulic components, (like valves and cylinders), which can lead to severe damage and unscheduled downtime of a system.

An off-line filtration unit with an electric motor improves the cleanness and quality of operating fluid and prolongs its durability, thereby preventing early wear and tear of system components.

Off-line filtration Process
An in-line operating filter is usually sufficient for normal hydraulic and lubrication operations. However, during initial filling, oil changes and flushing cycles, an additional off-line filtration process is recommended.
A flushing should be performed on the lubrication system before every initial start-up in a stationary
production facility. Mobile hydraulic systems should also be flushed periodically to prevent contaminated oil from getting into the tank and causing sludge accumulation.

UM Series – Mobile Filter Units
The UM series - mobile filter units feature the convenience of mobility for oil maintenance on hydraulic and lubrication systems. They are a variation of Eaton's Internormen US filter series.
The UMFC is a mobile off-line filter unit with a “fluid control” function designed to simplify off-line filtration and the filling of reservoirs. At the same time, the unit monitors ISO cleanliness levels. This means that instead of replacing oil prematurely, it can be filtered
and used again, reducing the need to buy new oil and the costs of oil disposal – not to mention the benefit to the environment.
The fluid control function is performed by the CCT 01 - Set particle counter and WSPS 05 water sensor.
IFPM/IFPS - Fluid Purifier Systems for Advanced Fluid Management
The IFPM/IFPS fluid purifier systems are designed for viscosity ranges from transformer oils to heavy gear lube oils (ISO 460). They can remove free, emulsified, and dissolved water, free and dissolved gases, and particulate contamination down to 1µm. The fineness of the filter used —ranging from very fine to coarse—is selected according to the kind of contamination. The IFPM/IFPS systems are available in four standard sizes from 5.3 to 26.4 gal/min (20 to 100 l/min), and may be mobile (IFPM) or stationary (IFPS). Explosion proof configurations also can be fabricated.
Due to the reduction of fluid aging, maintenance of lubricity, and decrease of air and water content, the equipment reliability of a whole system and the durability of the used fluids are significantly improved.
