COLILERT®-18 TEST

Simultaneously detects both total coliforms and Escherichia coli in water, or faecal

coliforms in wastewater. Results in 18 hours.

IDEXX Colilert®-18 has become the new

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9308-2:2012. Colilert-18 is also U.S. EPA-

approved and included in Standard Methods for Examination of Water and Wastewater.

BATCH MEASUREMENT SESSION PREPARATION

Open the tap of each 100 ml bottle provided with COLILERT®-18 test kit

Open the blister and pour the reaction

powder inside the bottle

Close the bottle using a Parafilm and the special tap with hole provided as

standard accessory with the on-line analyser and place it inside one of the sample carousels of the on-line analyser.

At the end of each batch measurement session the 20/40 bottles have to be manually removed from the analyser and properly disposed.

COMBINED COLORIMETRIC AND

Presence of Total and Faecal coliforms is detected by variation of the colour of the sample solution, while E. coli by its

fluorimetric emission by the light excitation at specific UV wavelength.

STATISTICAL EVALUATION OF CONTAMINATION

The on-line analyser allows to estimate the level of contamination degree by correlating the detection times of colour (Total or Faecal

coliforms depending on temperature) and fluorescence (E. coli) development with the number of bacterial individuals.
