What we know about childrenwith disabilities

Children with disabilities are just as important asother children.

But sometimes it is hard for children with

disabilities to do the same things as otherchildren.

Many people dont understand what childrenwith disabilities need.

Sometimes children with disabilities are

treated badly.

Sometimes they are left out of things.

Children with disabilities miss out on manyimportant things if they live far away from theirfamilies.

There is not enough information aboutchildren with disabilities or what they need.

This means that people dont always think aboutchildren with disabilities or understand whatthey need.

This can cause big problems.

For example, many children with disabilitiesdont have the chance to go to school.

This means it can be very hard for them to get ajob later on.

Children and young people with disabilities oftendont get the help they need to stay healthy.

All children need

good food

clean water

toilets they can use.

Violence happens more tochildren with disabilities than other children.

Many children get hurt when war or fightinghappens in their country.

Children may get a disability because of this.

Things are worse for children with disabilitieswhen something bad happens in their country.

For example,

it may be hard for them to go to placesto get help

people may not be able to care for them.

But things can get better.

There are laws about making life better forchildren with disabilities.

The laws are about making sure children withdisabilities can do the same things asother children.

Lots of countries have agreed to do what theselaws say.

This means that life should get better forchildren with disabilities all over the world.

Countries need to make the laws about childrenwith disabilities happen.

People need to know more aboutchildren with disabilities.

This will help them understand what they needand treat them well.

It is important that children with disabilities arenot left out.

This means making sure that everything is easyfor them to use and that they get good support.

buildings

When people make new plans they should thinkabout how to make them work for everyone.

This could be plans about

Children with disabilities need good support andhealth care. It should start when they are veryyoung.

With the right support children with disabilitiesshould be able to go to the same school asother children.

Children with disabilities should be able to livewith their families, not in places far from home.

This means that children with disabilities andtheir families need better support.
