Welcome to the McPherson Free Methodist Church. We seek to be a congregation that joins God’s mission of sharing

the gospel and making disciples. As His disciples become more like Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:17 -18), the church thus acts

as the body of Christ, transforming the community and the world for the kingdom of God. We provide safe surround-

ings and engaging activities for your children.

Childcare Information:

Childcare is available in the nursery for children under two. Parents may check two, and early three year-olds into the First

Flight classroom for Play-n-worship at any point during the service. Children ages three* through Kindergarten will meet in

the hallway when dismissed at 10:45. They’ll be directed to the Explore classroom (room 226). Following service, children

are released to parents only. In the lobby, worship bulletins and crayons are available for children who remain in the

service.

*Three year olds who were three by August 31, 2014 and are potty trained are included in children’s worship.

BURUNDI: We received word that the large FM church, clinic and school (14 primary classrooms

and six secondary classrooms) at Rutunga, 20 miles south of Bujumbura, Burundi, on Lake

Tanganyika, were destroyed by a mudslide on Sun., March 29. People were in the church

building, seeking refuge. Bishop Deogratias Nshimiyimana reports three people have died, 16

are still missing. The road to the church has been destroyed. The only way there now is by boat.

The Bishop says, “Many people are in urgent need of food and tents for shelter, since their

homes and belongings were swept away.”

Mudslides were caused by torrential rains in Burundi. Mud and rocks, loosened by the rain,

swept down steep hillsides, destroying everything in their path.

Please pray for comfort, peace and wisdom as FM leaders and the community continue to

search for the missing and assess damage. Since September 2014, storms have destroyed 17

church buildings; many believers have no place for worship.

KEEP THEM HOME What: Keep Them Home (a week of mission doing home repair) When: June 1 -5, 2015 Where: Mustang Trailer Park, McPherson, KS How: By the Grace of God and your hard work Who: YOU (All kind of skill levels and leadership) Cost: Love, prayer, time, commitment, sweat, laughter, but mostly love. Meeting Date 6:30, Monday, April 13, 2014 McPherson First United Methodist Church (1200 E. Kansas), Serve Center (Come through the East Doors). All interested parties are invited. We specifically need about 8 people who would be willing to su-pervise work teams for about 20 trailers. We (Rebecca Lewis, and Quentin Bennett) are working with the owners of the Mus-tang Trailer Park in McPherson. There are approximately 20 homes that need paint, skirting, and siding. If these improvements are not made, these residence will be asked to leave. The owners of the trailer park have been working with us. I believe they are not inter-ested in evicting anyone, but are trying to manage their property in such a way that it does not deteriorate into a place that is undesirable to live in. However, if these 20 families are evicted they will be either: 1) forced to move to a place with higher rents causing economic stress on these families, OR 2) they will effectively become home-less. There will be no charge any fees for this project, however, we do ask teams that are coming to bring some of the basic tools necessary for painting, skirting, and siding (paint brushes, buckets, rags, ladders, drills, hammers, tape measures, saws, etc.). They are also asking work teams, and interested local congregations to prayerfully take an offering for this project. We are estimating that it could take about $1,200 per trailer for materials (skirting and painting). We will also make sure that lunch, snacks, and lots of water are provided to the workers. Right now there isn’t overnight accommodations or meals other than lunch being of-fered. However, if your work team would like to spend the night, and need breakfast or evening meals, we would be glad to work with you on a team by team basis. We will be offering this as a faith journey for each of our teams. We will begin each morning with devotion, prayer, and communion (if your faith practices permit); and we hope that we can end the day with prayer as well. If you cannot come on Tuesday, April 7; please let us know of your interest, and the way in which you would like to participate.
