For your prayers this week: the Stateville and North Park Seminary communities, mourning the passing of Rusty Rice, a student in the School of Restorative Arts; Mary Ann Ahlgren’s sister, Sally Mlacker, who has been hospitalized, is doing better; Johanna Fernandez and family, mourning the passing of her father, Jim Sundholm; Herb Hedstrom, undergoing treament for metastatic prostate cancer; Helen Ferguson’s son, Lace Ferguson, recuperating at home following emergency brain surgery to remove a tumor; those feeling lonely and isolated, anxious and fearful, in this current shelter-in-place situation; those who have lost jobs as a result of this order; our global commu-nity, as we all work together to end the spread of, and care for those affected by, the COVID-19 coronavirus; the Stateville community, many homes for the eldery, and others where visitors are no longer allowed; Dawn and Ted Helwig’s grandson Elijah Peterman, home from the hospital after 7 weeks and being given a continuous pain medication; Rachel and James Ventress, who welcomed Elsie Grace Anastasia on March 17; the Covenant church in South Sudan and Ethiopia, in a state of unrest as a result of civil war in Sudan; Jim and Andy Meyer’s cousin’s son, Andrew Lamb, at Lurie Children’s Hospital with acute kidney issues; Mary Chase-Ziolek and family, mourning the passing of her brother, James Chase Jr.; Rosemary Slaughter, undergoing therapy on her wrist; Kristen West-phal, whose mother is recovering from hip surgery, and whose father is on hospice care; the Covenant Church in Congo, struggling over leadership and anticipating election for church officials; Dick Lucco, continuing cancer treatment; Bob Thornbloom, on hospice care; Barb Goode’s cousin David Jeffery, on disability due to decline caused by ALS

The North Park Friendship Center is now permanently closed. Starting on Monday, April 13, the Lincoln Square Friendship Center, located at 2711 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, IL 60625, is expand-ing its hours of operation. Here is their new schedule: Monday: 12-4 pm Distribution Tuesday: 3-7 pm Distribution Wednesday: CLOSED (However, they stock their shelves that day with volunteers from 10-5, so this is a great day to drop off food donations!) Thursday: 12-4 pm Distribution + 6-8 pm Hot Meals Friday: 12-4 pm Distribution
NEEDED ITEMS: Grocery bags, liquid hand soap, toiletries of all kinds (they love the little hotel soaps), jelly, bread, and fresh produce of any type.
