PASTOR’S POTPOURRI – HE IS RISEN. HE IS NOT HERE!

Happy Easter, everyone! After 40 days of our Lenten Journey we begin the 50 days of feasting during the East-er season which concludes with the celebration of Pente-cost. When we think about what happened when those women came to the empty tomb that first Easter Sunday, we are overwhelmed by the love of God that enabled Je-sus to rise from the dead and be our hope and glory. As we reflect on the faith of Mary Magdalene who so loved the Lord, it was only when the risen Jesus called her by name that she recognized Him. May we realize that He calls each of us by name and knows and loves us so much that He longs for the time when we may see Him face to face for all eternity. We give thanks to God for all those who were initiated into the Catholic faith at the Easter Vigil. May the com-ing weeks, months and years, bring them into contact more fully with this community and keep them close to each other in the Lord. They have longed to receive the Lord in Holy Communion. Now their longing has been fulfilled. May we rejoice with them and not take the Eu-charist for granted.

—Fr. Bob
