3 PASTOR’S MESSAGE
Happy Easter to everyone! Today, Easter Sunday, and all these coming weeks we will rejoice with the whole Church in the glorious triumph of Jesus over death. Jesus is risen and His res-urrection is the guarantee of our glorious resurrection too, the most important event in the his-tory of the world, the fact of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Christ died for our sins. By dying for them, He destroyed our death; by rising from the dead, He made eternal life possible. That is why this day is the most important day of the whole year, because on this day we celebrate the greatest event that ever happened. God loved us so much that He traded His own Son’s life for us out of love. Days ago we commemorated with devotion the Paschal Triduum, His Passover, the passion and death to the glory of His resurrection. Now we rejoice with the Angels in heaven that the works of Satan's are crushed and defeated. I hope that the joy having being one of the first witnesses of the Paschal Mystery at the Easter Tridium and of the Easter cele-bration will fill your heart with an increase of faith. Every year we welcome in our parish those men and women who received the Sacraments of Christian Initiations of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil. To them our support and prayers so that they may join us in bearing witness to Christ Resurrection with their lives full of joy and goodness. One of the great things the Church asks us today is to renew the baptism promises once made on our behalf by our godparents at the day of our baptism. We renew our intention to belong entirely to God; we reject Satan and all his works so that we may no have nothing to do with him, enemy of our human race; we reject to all his empty promises and to be led by Jesus’s promises. St. John Paul II’s last Easter Message said: “Stay with us, Living Word of the Father, and teach us words and deeds of peace: peace for our world consecrated by your blood and drenched in the blood of so many innocent victims: peace for the countries of the Middle East and Africa, where so much blood continues to be shed; peace for all of humanity, still threatened by fratricidal wars. Stay with us, Bread of eternal life, broken and distributed to those at table: give also to us the strength to show generous solidarity towards the multitudes who are even today suffering and dying from poverty and hunger, decimated by fatal epidemics or devastated by immense natural disasters. By the power of your Resurrec-tion, may they too become sharers in new life. We, the men and women of the third millennium, we too need you, Ris-en Lord! Stay with us now, and until the end of time. Grant that the material progress of people may never obscure the spiritual values which are the soul of their civilization. Sustain us, we pray, on our journey. In you we do believe, in you we do hope, for you alone have the words of eternal life (cf. Jn 6:68). Mane nobiscum, Domine! Alleluia! On behalf of the priests and staff of SSPP be assured of our prayers and the joyous Easter wishes. That God’s grace and blessings of these coming octaves of Easter deepen our faith in the Risen Christ. Father Mariano Varela, IVE

ENCOUNTER THE RISEN
CHRIST
We prayed, fasted, and gave alms-now we cele-brate Easter joy! Our Lenten journey with
CRS Rice Bowl ends as we encounter our Risen Lord. We reflect on our brothers and sisters whom we have walked with in India, Zambia, El Salvador, Mexico, and Ethiopia. And we commit to bring Easter joy to each per-son we meet in our daily lives. Rice Bowls may be turned in to one of the Ushers at Church or in the special box in the gathering space of Church.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Cenacle
The catechists help the child to lift up or announce that Jesus was a real person and that He truly instituted the Eucharist as His Body and Blood, using special words, so that the Good Shepherd could make a gift of Himself for love of His sheep and remain with them always. Doctrinal Points:
• Christ made a gift to each of us through the Eucharist so that we might never be separated from Him.
• “In order never to depart from his own and to make them sharers in his Passover, he instituted the Eucharist as the memorial of his death and Resurrection”
• “Jesus’ will to remain with men of all times” • “the sacrifice Christ offered once for all on the cross
remains ever present” • “The Church is born primarily of Christ's total self-
giving for our salvation” • “Because it is the memorial of Christ’s Passover, the
Eucharist is also a sacrifice”

Pro Life Even among terminally ill patients, a request to die is nearly always a cry for help and is often associated with a potentially treatable mental disorder such as depression or anxiety.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
