Entrance Hymn

We sing:

Christ is Alive

LH 761 CAL 293 Brian A. Wren 1936 -

Christ is Alive

1. Christ is alive! Let Christians sing. His cross stands empty to the sky.Let streets and homes with praises ring.Love, drowned in death, shall never die.

Christ is Alive

2. Christ is alive! No longer boundto distant years in Palestine, but saving, healing, here and now,and conquer every place and time.

Christ is Alive

3. Not throned above, remotely high, untouched, unmoved by human pains, but daily, in the midst of life, our Savior with the Father reigns.

Christ is Alive

4. In every insult, rift, and warwhere color, scorn or wealth divide,Christ suffers still, yet loves the more, and lives, though ever crucified

Christ is Alive

2nd Reading

R: The Second Reading is written in Chapter 10 of Acts, beginning at Verse 34

Acts 10:34-43 (CEV)

Summary of Jesus' life and ministry

Acts 10:34-43 34Peter then said: Now I am certain that

God treats all people alike. 35God is pleased with everyone who

worships him and does right, no matter what nation they come from.

36This is the same message that God gave to the people of Israel, when he

sent Jesus Christ, the Lord of all, to offer peace to them.

Acts 10:34-4337You surely know what happened

everywhere in Judea. It all began in Galilee after John had told everyone to be baptized. 38God gave the Holy Spirit and power to Jesus from Nazareth. He was with Jesus, as he went around doing good and healing

everyone who was under the power of the devil.

Acts 10:34-4339We all saw what Jesus did both in

Israel and in the city of Jerusalem. Jesus was put to death on a cross. 40But three days later, God raised him to life and let him be seen.

41Not everyone saw him. He was seen only by us, who ate and drank with

him after he was raised from death.

Acts 10:34-43

We were the ones God chose to tell others about him. 42God told us to announce clearly to the people that Jesus is the one he has chosen to judge the living and the dead.

Acts 10:34-4343Every one of the prophets has said

that all who have faith in Jesus will have their sins forgiven in his name.

This is the Word of the LordC: Thanks be to God

M: Since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has any power over him. Hallelujah!

C: Hallelujah!

M: The life he lives, he lives to God.

C: Hallelujah!

The Gospel Reading

M: The holy gospel is written in chapter 24 of the Gospel according to St Luke, beginning at verse 1.

C: Glory to you, O Lord,

raised to live for ever.

Luke 24:1-12 The women find the tomb empty (CEV)

Luke 24:1-12

Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, carrying the spices that they had prepared.   2When they found the stone rolled away from the entrance,   3they went in. But they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus,4and they did not know what to think.

Luke 24:1-12

Suddenly two men in shining white clothes stood beside them.   5The women were afraid and bowed to the ground. But the men said, "Why are you looking in the place of the dead for someone who is alive?   6Jesus isn't here! He has been raised from death.

Luke 24:1-12

Remember that while he was still in Galilee, he told you,   7'The Son of Man will be handed over to sinners who will nail him to a cross. But three days later he will rise to life.' "

8Then they remembered what Jesus had said.

Luke 24:1-12 9-10Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the

mother of James, and some other women were the ones who had gone to the tomb. When they returned, they told the eleven apostles and the others what had happened.

11The apostles thought it was all nonsense, and they would not believe.

Luke 24:1-12 12But Peter ran to the tomb. And when

he stooped down and looked in, he saw only the burial clothes. Then he returned, wondering what had happened.

M: This is the Gospel of the Lord

C: Praise to you, O Christ,

raised to live forever.

NICENE CREED

C: We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

NICENE CREED

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one being with the

Father; through him all things were made.

NICENE CREED

For us* and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.

* This means: us human beings

NICENE CREED

On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

NICENE CREED

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy Christian** and apostolic church.

** or ‘Catholic’ here means ‘universal’

NICENE CREED

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

We sing:

deeds, will you stop and listen where the

New Road leads. First-born child of the refugees, he was raised in Nazarethand schooled in charity, and found salvation on his knees.

69

The New Road 7. Mary wondered at the stone flung

wide and the tomb rang hollow when she

stepped inside. Angels seated where the Christ had

lain bid her quit that prison, for the Son was risen and would speak in Galilee again.

The New Road 8. Show by living what the Lord has
