The original EHHS at 200 Tyler Street, completed in

1936, is undergoing a dramatic renaissance into “The Ty-

ler,” which will provide 70 affordable 55+ housing units.

The historic building, which has been vacant for more

than 20 years, is set to open in the spring of 2020. One of

the school’s added wings will be demolished to provide

parking. The Town has retained ownership of the back

half of the property, which will be renovated for use as a

community center. It will include a remodeled pool facili-

ty and an auditorium for arts and entertainment, as well as

Town Council chambers and the home of the East Haven

Historical Society.
