Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Prax o f M iami. Fla., who have been visiting here, left fo r New York, where they will stay a week. They have been several weeks traveling in the mountains in the Carolinas and passed tw o weeks a t W hite Sulphur Springs, and will visit several places o f interest on their way home. T hey expect to arrive at M iami in September.
Mr. and Mrs. A lfred C. Bates have returned frcm tw o weeks' vacation in the Catskills. They motored hom e with their son Alfred, w ho went on to M ontauk. where he entertained eight of his m en friends for the week-end by T una and Bass fishing.
Scouts w ho represent Suffolk County in cam p at Adirondacks. are in charge o f R. P. Anderson. Suffolk County Scout executive. Scoutmaster W alter Loos, a member o f Sag Harbor Pierson High School faculty, will act as one o f the assistant scoutmasters o f the party.
A fter Labor Day school begins again for those w ho have graduated from Pierson, and wish to advance further in the educational field. Miss D orothy Baum an leaves for Albany State, to begin her sophom ore year, together with Miss Helma Bergstrom. Miss Bertha Spitz and Anthony Kulcyzski. w ho are registered as Freshmen. Miss Stephanie Ryder leaves for B uffalo State College; Miss Helen McNanrney, Miss Mildred Youngs, Alice Bisgood and Eunice Pulver, for Cortland N orm al; Miss Alice Dickson for Packard Business College; Miss G loria F inck- enor for New Jersey State College at G lassboro. N. J .; Anthony W allance for Packard Business’ College, and Jack Y oungs for Syracuse University.
Miss Vera C. DuM ont. R . N., and her friend. Miss Mildred L. Brunner, who have been visiting Mrs. L. N. Vaughn 2nd. for the past six weeks, have re turned to their hom e in Elgin, HI. T hey made the trip by auto, visiting places o f interest on the way.
Sag H arbcr Theatre SoldT he Sag Harbor Theatre was sold at
10 o 'clock last Friday morning, on the county court house steps, to Gilbert S. Rosenthal. The house will continue to operate under the m anagem ent o f Sam uel R osenthal, father o f the purchaser. The playhouse was sold by G eorge W. Hildreth, referee in the case.
L ittle B ernice Lewis, daughter o f I Dr. and M rs. H arold Lewis, is in the Southam pton Hospital. She was oper-1 ated on for appendicitis and is getting] along nicely.
Com panions c f the Forest Hold Beach Party
O n Tuesday evening, August 20th, T h e Com panions o f the Forest of Am erica, o f Sag Harbor, held their a n nual beach party at East H am pton Beach. The feature o f the evening was races o f all kinds. T h e winner o f the sack race was Bena S carlato; second prize. Edith Zelner; for the three- legged race, first prize was won by G ertrude Salisbury c f East Hampton, and jum ping rope the longest was won by Edith Zelner. T he pleasingly plum p ladies' race was won by Mrs. M ary Padovano o f Brooklyn. A fter the races all gathered around the big beach fire where a delicious lunch was served to all.
Obstruction Buoy Asked ForThe Trustees o f Sag Harbor Village
have been asked to place an obstruction buoy upon the shoal o ff M unicipal pier. A t high tide yachts com ing into the bulkhead to take on supplies o f gasoline, o ften ground or strike their propellors on the old M aidstone pier.

Miss Teresa M ontilone o f Brooklyn, were arrested by the local police and arraigned before Justice Jaques. They pleaded guilty and were fined $50 and given a suspended jail sentence o f 10 da ys— Press.

Elisha Hedges celebrated his 88th birthday on W ednesday o f last week.
Charles G uyer was taken to the Southam pton Hospital on Tuesday, where he underwent an operation for appendicitis.
Local gunners report signs o f a great quantity o f gam e this season, especially quail, pheasants, woodcock, and rabbits. in the nearby woods, and are a l
ready planning for an active season. The W ainsoott G un Club released a number o f quail on the lands posted by that organization, during the sum mer, and it Is said that the weather this summer has been most favorable fo r the propagation o f quail and other wild life.
Form er County Clerk Fred S. Pu lver o f Sag Harbor, has consented to look after the interests o f the Republican organization candidates in the primary cam paign. Mr. Pulver has a lways been an organization w orker and som e years ago served as chairm an of the County Committee, o f w hich com mittee he is now a member from Southam pton Town.— News.

Mrs. Julia Buchegger. age 57 years, died last Thursday a t the hospital a fter a brief illness. She was a widow and is survived by a son and daughter. Funeral services were held Saturday.
Miss Emily Schrader underwent a surgical operation in A lbany and will not be able to resume her position in the H igh S chool until October. Miss Adelaide Ccrw ith has been engaged as a substitute for one month.

Miss M arjorie Y oung has resigned her position as teacher o f the fourth grade in our high school, and Miss Frances M ariey o f East Ham pton, has been engaged to fill the vacancy.
At the request o f local patrons, the m anagem ent o f Jones’ Casino has decided to keep the Casino open until Novem ber 15th.
A house is being erected for Alan H ildreth on Little Plains R oad in the new H errick Developm ent. Hugh Edwards is the contractor.
