They have been sev eral weeks traveling in the mountains in the Carolinas and passed two weeks at White Sulphur Springs, and will visit several places of interest on their way home. They expect to arrive at Miami in September. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred C. Bates have returned frcm two weeks' vacation in the Catskills. They motored home with their son Alfred, who went on to Mon tauk. where he entertained eight of his men friends for the week-end by Tuna and Bass fishing. Scouts who represent Suffolk Coun ty in camp at Adirondacks. are in charge of R. P. Anderson. Suffolk County Scout executive. Scoutmaster Walter Loos, a member of Sag Harbor Pierson High School faculty, will act as one of the assistant scoutmasters of the party. After Labor Day school begins again for those who have graduated from Pierson, and wish to advance further in the educational field. Miss Dorothy Bauman leaves for Albany State, to begin her sophomore year, together with Miss Helma Bergstrom. Miss Bertha Spitz and Anthony Kulcyzski. who are registered as Freshmen. Miss Stephanie Ryder leaves for Buffalo State College; Miss Helen McNanrney, Miss Mildred Youngs, Alice Bisgood and Eunice Pulver, for Cortland Nor mal; Miss Alice Dickson for Packard Business College; Miss Gloria Finck- enor for New Jersey State College at Glassboro. N. J.; Anthony Wallance for Packard Business’ College, and Jack Youngs for Syracuse University. Miss Vera C. DuMont. R. N., and her friend. Miss Mildred L. Brunner, who have been visiting Mrs. L. N. Vaughn 2nd. for the past six weeks, have re turned to their home in Elgin, HI. They made the trip by auto, visiting places of interest on the way. Sag Harbcr Theatre Sold The Sag Harbor Theatre was sold at 10 o'clock last Friday morning, on the county court house steps, to Gilbert S. Rosenthal. The house will continue to operate under the management of Samuel Rosenthal, father of the pur chaser. The playhouse was sold by George W. Hildreth, referee in the case. Little Bernice Lewis, daughter of I Dr. and Mrs. Harold Lewis, is in the Southampton Hospital. She was oper-1 ated on for appendicitis and is getting] along nicely. Companions cf the Forest Hold Beach Party On Tuesday evening, August 20th, The Companions of the Forest of America, of Sag Harbor, held their an nual beach party at East Hampton Beach. The feature of the evening was races of all kinds. The winner of the sack race was Bena Scarlato; second prize. Edith Zelner; for the three- legged race, first prize was won by Gertrude Salisbury cf East Hampton, and jumping rope the longest was won by Edith Zelner. The pleasingly plump ladies' race was won by Mrs. Mary Padovano of Brooklyn. After the races all gathered around the big beach fire where a delicious lunch was served to all. Obstruction Buoy Asked For The Trustees of Sag Harbor Village have been asked to place an obstruc tion buoy upon the shoal off Municipal pier. At high tide yachts coming into the bulkhead to take on supplies of gasoline, often ground or strike their propellors on the old Maidstone pier. Toward building extension of Sag Harbor Yacht Club pier there has been subscribed $1,200. To add 50 feet will cost $1,500. will open Monday. September 9th. for the new term. Joseph Novack, 18. of Baiting Hol low. and Russell Sprague of Merrick. . L. I., were each sentenced in the local j court to 60 days in jail for stealing cars at the local beaches. The latter is also wanted for stealing a car in Patchogue, which officers Seamon and Edwards recovered in Merrick. L. I. Goods stolen from Peck & Peck. E. A. & H. Hildreth. Schwartz Store and the Children’s Shop were recovered this week when Mrs. Concetta Monti- lone and her daughter. Miss Teresa Montilone of Brooklyn, were arrested by the local police and arraigned be fore Justice Jaques. They pleaded guil ty and were fined $50 and given a sus pended jail sentence of 10 days—Press. BRIDGEHAMPTON Mrs. Tilly J. Fahy spent a few days in New York last week. Mrs. Joseph Hennessy and daughter, Katherine, and Mrs. Rudolph Waeck- eiling and children of Weehawken Heights, N. J., are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Schenck. Elisha Hedges celebrated his 88th birthday on Wednesday of last week. Charles Guyer was taken to the Southampton Hospital on Tuesday, where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. Local gunners report signs of a great quantity of game this season, especial ly quail, pheasants, woodcock, and rab bits. in the nearby woods, and are al ready planning for an active season. The Wainsoott Gun Club released a number of quail on the lands posted by that organization, during the sum mer, and it Is said that the weather this summer has been most favorable for the propagation of quail and other wild life. Former County Clerk Fred S. Pul ver of Sag Harbor, has consented to look after the interests of the Repub lican organization candidates in the primary campaign. Mr. Pulver has al ways been an organization worker and some years ago served as chairman of the County Committee, of which com mittee he is now a member from Southampton Town.—News. A son was recently b o m to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Brusdoski o f Montauk. and form erly o f Southam pton. Mr. Brudoski is m anager o f the Loftus & M cG unigal general store at Montauk.

Mrs. Julia Buchegger. age 57 years, died last Thursday a t the hospital a fter a brief illness. She was a widow and is survived by a son and daughter. Funeral services were held Saturday.

Miss Emily Schrader underwent a surgical operation in A lbany and will not be able to resume her position in the H igh S chool until October. Miss Adelaide Ccrw ith has been engaged as a substitute for one month.

At the request o f local patrons, the m anagem ent o f Jones’ Casino has de­cided to keep the Casino open until Novem ber 15th.

A house is being erected for Alan H ildreth on Little Plains R oad in the new H errick Developm ent. Hugh Ed­wards is the contractor.
