Once completed, the new building will be a functional space and will be a fresh and modern addition to the school. Whilst building is taking place, I ask for your patience and understanding as access to the school may be hampered. 2021 Planning To assist us with our planning for next year, if your child will not be returning to East Beechboro Primary School, please complete the slip on the last page of this newsletter and return to the office. It is essential that we are as accurate as possible with our planning for next year to ensure that our classroom arrangements are correct and that we are staffed adequately. Faction Carnivals We will soon be entering our school athletics season which is a very exciting and enjoyable time for students, staff and parents. As we are unsure where we will be at with the COVID-19 restrictions, we will continue to plan for these events in the hope that they will still occur. These carnivals are fantastic community events and we welcome family members to join us on Maguire Oval to support the students and to enjoy the day. Parents and visitors are reminded to please be mindful of social distancing and practise safe hygiene. Faction Carnivals will take place in Week 8 this term and further information will be sent home closer to the date. In-Term Swimming Parents of students in Years 1 to 6 will have received in-term swimming lesson forms. Lessons take place in the first two weeks of next term. Students will receive quality swimming lessons and will develop vital swimming and water safety skills. As this is part of the WA Curriculum, the cost of the lessons is provided free to students, however payment of $52 is required for pool entry and travel costs. To ensure your child is able to attend, please ensure that permission forms and payment are returned by Monday 21st September. Parents wishing to pay this amount in instalments are asked to speak to the office staff. I encourage all parents to ensure their child is given the opportunity to attend this swimming program. Pupil Free Day Parents are reminded that tomorrow, Friday 21st August, is a pupil-free day as staff will be taking part in professional development. Camp Australia will be operating on this day for parents wanting to use this service. Please ensure that you register your child. Students return to school as normal on Monday 24th August. 2020 Voluntary Contributions This year has been a difficult one for us all and has had financial implications on corporations, businesses and households. In previous years, we have sent out reminders to parents of unpaid items, however, we have chosen not do so to not add to the financial burden many families may be experiencing. Voluntary contributions assist the school in ensuring that all students receive the best educational experience possible. If you are able to make payment of your child’s contribution, we would be most grateful, however, we fully understand that under the circumstances, this may not be possible for some families. Nomination Congratulations to Mrs Eve Byford who I nominated for Outstanding Administrative Support Officer in this year’s WAECSSA awards. Mrs Byford has been recognised for her outstanding service, dedication, loyalty and commitment to our school, staff, students and parents. Although Mrs Byford was not selected as a finalist, her outstanding service has been acknowledged by her nomination.
