In the six months since we launched our East Africa Crisis appeal, you have raised more than £4.7 million.
Thanks to your remarkable compassion, we have reached more than 250,000 people across the region.
The drought that hit large parts of Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and South Sudan was described by some Church partners as the worst in living memory.
More than 13 million people required emergency relief.

“We have had three years without rain. There were other droughts but this is very severe”
Ndugayo, northern Kenya
Hundreds of thousands of animals have died in East Africa during the current drought.
For pastoralists in East Africa, animals aren’t simply a source of food and milk – they’re living banks, the main assets that people own. When their animals die, pastoralists don’t have the means to feed their families.
“I tie rope around my stomach, and then I drink hot water. That is how I cope with hunger”
Ayapan, north-west Kenya
We have provided food or nutritional support to more than 200,000 people.
We are drilling wells and improving existing water sources that will
provide clean water for more than 180,000 people.

We have helped thousands of pastoralists keep their animals alive, ensuring they can earn an income.
“Cash-for-work” schemes help people earn money to pay for food, and to work together to create long term improvements for the community.
“I am very grateful to all those who support us. I believe that God can do miracles and that things will get better. That's what keeps me going”

The rains in November were normal in most parts of East Africa, and humanitarian aid is
making a difference to millions of people.
But there are still critical shortages of food in many areas.
Please keep all those affected in your thoughts and prayers.
