EASA Every summer since 1981, around 400 of the brightest students from every part of Europe have come together in the name of exchange of ideas, culture and experience, to take part in two intense weeks of workshops, lectures, exhibitions and events. Over the years, EASA has been held in many ambitious and inspirational settings, such as a train travelling across Scandinavia, a renovated WWII destroyer moored in the centre of Budapest, and even on the Eastern side of the Berlin Wall in 1988. HELSINKI WASTELANDS 012 Wastelands: XXXII European Architecture Students Assembly is a multinational architecture festival arranged in a former power production area called Suvilahti, located in the eastern downtown of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The two-week event is part of the official World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 -programme, lasting from 16th to 29th of July 2012. The event will bring up to 500 future architects to Helsinki, representing nearly 50 different nationalities and 250 schools of architecture around Europe and beyond. The participants will focus on investigating the enormous potential of various empty, insufficiently used and neglected urban in-between-zones in the built environment. The two week festival including workshops, lectures, excursions and exhibitions will create a unique setting for global networking – transforming the city visibly into an experimental research laboratory of hundreds of young and emerging international architects. 16th to 29th of July 2012
