FOREWORD

Early Years Training Programme

Dear Colleague

The Enfield Early Years training programme Spring term (January - March) provides courses designed to support the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Training in all aspects of the EYFS is a fundamental part of professional development and Ofsted have an expectation that all practitioners have access to training to ensure their knowledge and practice is kept up to date and continues to develop and improve.

The courses are delivered by the local authority’s Early Years Quality and Outcomes Team and colleagues across other services and agencies. Courses are continuously analysed, evaluated and developed to address training needs and to ensure that training delivered is responsive to changes in legislation and Ofsted requirements

Preparing for Ofsted – at your setting:

Do your staff understand the early years’ inspection process and are they confident to speak to an inspector?

Do you know what to expect and feel that you are ready to lead your inspection with confidence?

Be prepared for your inspection with an early years mock inspection with the help of an Early Years Advisor

Ofsted inspections can be a daunting experience for practitioners and managers. It can seem that years of hard work and best practice will be judged in one day, so it is crucial that settings are fully prepared and feel confident in themselves. Mock inspections are a great way to practise for an inspection and evaluate the provision

What is included:ll A visit from an early years adviser using the Ofsted inspection framework

to assess against the Ofsted criteria for the 4 inspection outcomes, against the criteria for good.ll Review all the key documentationll Observation of early years practice including the planned observation of

an activityll A review of your SEFll Practical advice and tips for your staff team about what to expect from an

inspection to increase their confidencell Feedback both verbally and in a written report with advice to identify

your strengths and areas for development using the Ofsted evaluation schedule.ll Full day or half day mock inspection (depending on your setting),

feedback and report with actions for improvement.
