Healthy Eating week: We had great fun teaching children to think
about how good diet helps our bodies stay strong and healthy.
Students wore a different colour for each day of the week and
brought in healthy food in that colour too. Parents and students
did an amazing job in taking part in our Healthy Lunch Box
Challenge! Here are some examples.
General health checks: Our school nurses did a great job in
assessing students for head lice, height, weight and a general oral
hygiene check. Students enjoyed visiting the nurse’s clinic. Thank
you to all the parents who worked together with the nurses in banishing any head lice!
Pajama Day: After lots of learning, we made it halfway to the term.
Students enjoyed celebrating this occasion by taking part in Pajama
day. They brought in their cuddly toys, blankets and ‘sleepover’
snacks for some movie time.
ADHD awareness day: With the help of
our SEN support worker, we recognized
the importance of taking part in the great
cause of ADHD awareness day. This is a
day that is celebrated all over the world.
Students wore oran ge clothing, brought in orang food and created great orange
art pieces! Teachers joined in too and wore the orange ribbon. Our SEN support
worker provided a great information leaflet of ADHD for all parents.
ENT Health Check: We booked in a visit by Al Magrabi
Hospital & Centre. These doctors did an amazing job
checking some of the students in our school. They did
focused on ears, eyes and dental checks. Students enjoyed the experience and
parents found it helpful. We hope to book them again soon.
Anti-Bullying: We took part in the National Anti- Bullying day by wearing odd
socks. We encouraged all students to understanding that we are all different but
we are one team, one family, one school.
Parent Review day: We had great feedback
from you about the review day. You told us how happy you are with the
teachers and the school. We are happy that you enjoyed listening to how
your child learns and how to get them ready for term 2.
National Qatar Day: What an amazing day! Performances were held from foundation stage to primary.
Activities such as face painting, mask making to bouncy castles and
party food were all included. School was open for all parents to join in
celebrating this day with us.
Qur’an club for Qur’an competition: After School Quran sessions have
started this term. The arabic team are prepping our students to take
part in the upcoming National Quran Competition. Students have
already learnt chapters of the Quran.
SFQ Clubs: After school SFQ sports clubs have been up and running this term. Our students have signed up and
are enjoying SFQ Football club, SFQ Swimming club, SFQ Gymnastics club and SFQ Tennis club.
Term 1 Trip Al Khor Park and Zoo
This year students had fun at the Al Khor Park and Zoo. The learning objective for this educational trip was for students to explore, discover and discuss aspects of animals and the environment around them. Students enjoyed the exclusive tour by veterinarian, Dr Mohammad. They visited various animals in their homes, discovering types of birds, and taking a gift bag home from Dr Mohammad.
Special Announcement
This term we had a very special new member join the Spectra Team! Ms Simone, our foundation stage 2b
teacher had her beautiful baby daughter, Amy! We would like to congratulate both parents and their new
arrival! Please join us in welcoming baby Amy on board and we hope we have some visits from her soon.
Foundation Stage 1 We have been busy learning…
Hi there! I am Ms Nikki; a FS1 Teacher and the FS1 lead here at Spectra Global School.
We have had an extremely busy and exciting term that has flown by very quickly.
In our topic lessons this term, the children have learnt “All about me” as well as learning about “Healthy
eating”. The children had great fun discussing the hygiene topic, where they even got a chance to make their
own 3D toothbrushes and mouths. The children had great fun practicing good hygiene. We have also worked
with a very interesting topic this term, exploring the 5 senses. Here, the children had a chance to touch and
taste different kinds of food. We also worked with all kinds of different textured objects, making unique
pictures. As the weather begins to change to a much cooler climate, we will now be focusing on the 4 different
seasons; Summer, Spring, Autumn and Winter.
In our Maths lessons this term, we have looked at numbers 1-10. Not only counting, but also number
recognition and practicing how to write their numbers on a dotted line. Practice makes perfect!
In our Literacy lessons this term, we have looked at the phonics sounds for the letters s, a, t, i, p, n. The
children have had great fun using the interactive smart-boards in the classrooms; for practicing to write their
letters. The children show great interest in using their phonics notebooks in class time every week and show
great pride in their work.
We look forward to a busy and exciting Term 2, filled with exploring and developing your little ones minds. I
hope you all have a great break, and I look forward to seeing all the children back soon; eager to learn!

Foundation Stage 2 We have been busy learning…
Hello to all parents,
What a fantastic term we have had in Spectra. We have been learning about different topics such as “All
About me” where we were learning about our body parts, feelings, friends and families, healthy and non-
healthy food and hygiene.
After that, we have moved to our 5 sensational senses (feel, touch, see, smell, taste) where children were
learning about different parts of the body related to each sense and building up their vocabulary related to it
(sour, bitter, salty..)
The latest topic was about Space, where children were so excited learning about each planet and about how
they are different to Earth.
In Literacy we have been focusing on “Jolly Phonics Phase 2 sounds and blending and segmenting simple CVC
words.
In Math we have been focusing on numbers from 1 – 20 (recognition, reading, writing, counting, ordering &
sorting, 2D shapes and their properties and measurements (height & length).
We look forward to seeing you in the new term, take care and enjoy your holidays!
