Monday, August 27, 2018
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Registration & Move In
Location: Click Family Sports Center
Families and students arrive for registration. Students pick up their computers, get photo IDs,
complete any missing information and receive their room keys. Students will be able to move
belongings into their rooms after completing registration. Orientation Leaders and Residential
Life Staff will be on hand to assist students and families and answer any questions.
11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Lunch & Welcome Remarks
Location: Dining Hall, Alumni Hall
We welcome families to join us for a complimentary lunch. Students should use their ID cards.
1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Introduction to Orientation
Location: East Academic Building, O’Brien Auditorium
What to expect, where to go and when are things happening.
1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Supporting the Whole Student: Panel Discussion and Q&A Session
Location: East Academic Building, O’Brien Auditorium
Many students have multiple dimensions of challenge, and even the brightest students
experience barriers to their success in college that require a holistic understanding. This panel
will engage in a collaborative discussion about the challenges of working with students,
followed by a Q&A session.

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Keynote Presentation by John Elder Robison
Location: East Academic Building, O’Brien Auditorium
John Elder Robison is a New York Times bestselling author, entrepreneur, and advocate for
autistic people. He is the author of several books on autism spectrum disorder, including
Switched On: A Memoir of Brain Change and Emotional Awakening, and Look Me in the Eye:
My Life with Asperger’s.
Robison credits his own neurodivergence for his success as an engineer, first with rock bands
like KISS, and then later with a major toy and game company. Today he operates an
automobile restoration company in Springfield, Massachusetts that specializes in Rolls Royce,
Bentley, Land Rover, and other luxury vehicles. He also serves on the federal committee that
coordinates how various governmental agencies address autism, and was recently named a
visiting lecturer at Landmark College and an advisor to the College’s new Center for
Neurodiversity.

6:30 p.m. Families depart for the evening
Students should continue with their Orientation program. Additional family sessions will
continue Tuesday morning at 9:00a.m.

Our Information Technology staff will be available to answer questions or help
troubleshoot technology issues including installing Outlook on your mobile device.
(also: computer pickup/drop-off for students arriving late).
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Bookstore Open, Strauch Family Student Center
Stop by for supplies & LC gear! Students should not purchase books until they receive
their final schedule on Monday.

Pathways Meeting
Time:
Location: The Pathways meeting is a student centered activity that engages students and parents with
an advisor and facilitator. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their goals for the
upcoming semester and the strategies and plans needed to achieve these goals.
Conversations are recorded visually and saved for the students and advisors to refer to
throughout the students’ time at Landmark.

Most people know that physical activity is essential for a healthy life. Some of us haven't had
the opportunity to see how much fun it can be. Learn about innovative classes that use sports
and exercise to improve health and communication. We learn the fundamentals of individual
and team sports, and different types of workouts, to improve health and social skills, all in a
fun and supportive environment.

1:30 p.m. - 2:20 p.m. What to Expect in the First Year
2:30 p.m. - 3:20 p.m. Presenter: Michael Luciani, Vice President for Student Affairs
Location: East Academic Building, O’Brien Auditorium
The transition to college is an eventful one with many benchmarks and milestones along the
way. This workshop will review the patterns of a student’s transition to college and will make
suggestions on how parents can support their students in making that transition.
3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Break
This is a good opportunity to explore Putney, stop by a campus office or take care of any
remaining business.
