APRIL 2020 Frances Lutz’s 100th Birthday It is such a joy to have celebrated Frances’ 100th birthday with her. She is a fascinating woman of many talents, who has such a sweet and gentle personality. It is an honor to have Frances as a part of our family. On her 100th birthday, she received recognition from the Pope, the President, and the Florida Senate and Representatives. What an amazing thing to live a full century of life. Frances, we wish you many blessings along with many more enjoyable years! Earl Edward Clerke Earl was born on Nov. 5 in Norwood, Mass. In high school, Earl played hockey and football. At night, he attended the A Wiggins Aeronautics School. After high school, Earl went into the army cadet program. The government stopped the cadet program so Earl went to the gunnery school in the Army Air Force. He operated the nose turret on a B-24 bomber with the 15th Air Force in Italy during World War II. Earl flew 24 missions dropping bombs. His B-24 bomber was shot down two times. He and the crew were able to get back with the help of people in the area. Earl was awarded four Bronze Battle Stars, among other awards for his service. Earl met his wife Janet while in the military. They were married on June 27, 1945. Earl and Janet had five children, four boys and one girl. After the service, Earl worked for American Airlines as a flight engineer for almost 30 years. The family moved around the U.S. during that time. Earl and Janet retired in the Florida Keys. He built an “all-cement” house there. Earl studied and attained his captain’s license. He became a volunteer with the Coast Guard for 20 years. He picked up immigrants, rescued boaters and taught school in the Coast Guard. He bought a “drug runner” boat at auction. It amused him that the canine dogs sniffed drugs on his boat and he had to keep a bill of sale on board. In 2001, Earl and Janet moved to Fort Pierce to be near their son and daughter. Earl is now a resident of Lake Forest Park Senior Living. He enjoys playing cards, bingo, cribbage and attending our social events. Roaring ’20s Dear Lake Forest Friends, Family, and Residents Welcome to the month of April. I hope you enjoy your Easter holiday and know as well that we will be hosting a fun “denim and diamonds” western themed party. Get your blue jeans ready and come have a great time with us. Just a reminder as well for you to look over your calendars, as we have a town hall meeting, along with a food and dining meeting, held every month to keep you informed of the things happening around the community and give you an opportunity to voice your compliments, suggestions, and concerns. As always, I am here if you need me. Tanya Ingram, Executive Director
