I love them exceedingly.” Quick links: Devotional Thought / Fabulous Five / Mr. Hearne’s Recommended Resources Calendar on www.rcs.edu / Important Dates / Score Box / Prayer Guide / Parent Satisfaction Survey Results Devotional Thought: Psalm 119 (the longest Psalm in the Bible) is themed around the concept of the extreme value of the Word of God in our lives. It's easy to give lip service to our love for God. However, the Psalmist in this chapter reminds us that loving God involves being consumed with, following after, learning more, and obeying the Law (Word) of God. Do we love to follow after God's laws (statutes, decrees, testimonies) or do we look at them as a list of condemning commands? Once we realize that God's law is a personal love letter that is designed to give us hope and joy, then our perspective changes. By living out the Word of God in our lives we have the opportunity for Christ's love to shine through us to friends, family and strangers that cross our path. They are identifying key areas of their life and strategically planning how they can serve and do ministry in these areas! 4. Mr. Russell reports, “In Understanding the Times class this week, our graduating seniors were working to counteract the arguments laid out in Clarence Darrow’s essay “Why I am Agnostic.” They did a great job not only recognizing false arguments, but also putting forth some really well thought-out Christian apologetics.May 17, 2017

Devotional Thought:

Psalm 119 (the longest Psalm in the Bible) is themed around the concept of the extreme value of the Word of God in

our lives. It's easy to give lip service to our love for God. However, the Psalmist in this chapter reminds us that loving

God involves being consumed with, following after, learning more, and obeying the Law (Word) of God. Do we love to

follow after God's laws (statutes, decrees, testimonies) or do we look at them as a list of condemning commands?

Once we realize that God's law is a personal love letter that is designed to give us hope and joy, then our perspective

changes. By living out the Word of God in our lives we have the opportunity for Christ's love to shine through us to

friends, family and strangers that cross our path.

In Christ, Mr. Cleveland, Director of Athletics

“Fabulous Five” As Reported by RCS Teachers:

1. Mrs. Marcus reports, “We visited the Oakland Zoo and had a docent give us a tour. 1M kids asked critical and

thoughtful questions about the animals. I was very proud of them!”

2. Mrs. Vanegas reports, “This last Friday all the third graders had a wonderful Manners Lunch. The students had so

much fun showing each other what they have learned. So proud of our third graders!” Click Here

3. Mr. Hinton reports, “The Christian Ministry class is presenting their "Acts 1:8" projects. They are identifying key areas

of their life and strategically planning how they can serve and do ministry in these areas!”

4. Mrs. Haserot reports, “In second grade, students presented their biography book reports in an oral presentation.

Students took on the character they read about.” Click Here

5. Mr. Russell reports, “In Understanding the Times class this week, our graduating seniors were working to counteract

the arguments laid out in Clarence Darrow’s essay “Why I am Agnostic.” They did a great job not only recognizing false

arguments, but also putting forth some really well thought-out Christian apologetics.”

In anticipation for the end of

this school year and in

preparation for next year, we

are announcing “Late Start

Wednesdays” (LSWs) for the

elementary campus. LSWs

are scheduled for the first

Wednesday morning in

September, October,

November, February, and

May. The purpose of LSWs is

to allow our faculty to have a

dedicated time for professional

development and to work on

grade-level curriculum. On

LSWs you can drop your

child(ren) off at 9:45am. Or if

you need to drop your child off

at the regular school time,

RCS will provide free of

charge child care from 8:45am

until 9:45am.

In Christ,

Al Hearne II, M.DIV, M.Ed.

Mr. Hearne’s Recommended Resources: (click below for the articles)

Parents, my three resources this week focus on digital safety. They were chosen because of a deadly new game I have been reading about, which according to the news, some teenagers in the United States are beginning to play, “The Blue Whale Challenge.” This is a dangerous game which may have led to teenagers committing suicide. Our students’ mental health is of great importance and we should all be equipped to help them remain mentally healthy and safe. If the news reports are true, the app encourages students to start a 50-day campaign of self-harm and end with suicide. After doing your own research, sit down and discuss online safety with your kids.

One effortless way for you to help support RCS through your

normal online shopping habits is to use smile.amazon.com. I (Mr.

Hearne) was dialoging with a mother recently, and she shared

how she has donated $54.67 to RCS through

her smile.amazon.com shopping. Wouldn't it be great if every

RCS parent used smile.amazon.com and contributed to RCS the

same way? To sign up, go to www.smile.amazon.com and
