The Function Selector switch is a 6-pin in-

Control Mode
ON/OFF Action Move switch 1 to the OFF position to chose ON/OFF action which is the
same type of control used in room thermostats. Once you chose a setpoint (SP) the controller works to maintain the SP, but because ON/OFF does not have as tight ofcontrol as PID, the temperature will tend to continually overshoot and undershoot the SP resulting
in a sine wave shown above. ON/OFF control is fine if your application doesn't require very tight SPaccuracy.
PID Action Using PID allows for a smooth ramping of temperature to SP, with the
minimum amount of over/undershoot. Best type of control when applicationrequires a very tight, smooth, temperature transition to SP with little or no over or undershoot of SP.

Determining Proportional PeriodSet switch 2 of the function selector dipswitch to OFF to select a proportional period of 20 seconds. This is used when the PID control action is performed with the contact output of the temperaturecontroller, or when using an external relay or contactor. When a quick response is required, set switch 2 to ON to select a proportional period of 2seconds. Even when a solid-state relay (SSR) is used, set the 2-second proportional period only
when quick response is essential. Avoid using this setting with a contact output because it willshorten the relay's service life.
Determining Control Output Operation
If the temperature controller is used to control a heater, the control output can be set to perform areverse (inverted) operation. Set switch 3 of the control output mode selector dipswitch to OFF.
By contrast, if the temperature controller is used to control a cooling device such as a chiller orfreezer, set switch 3 to ON.
Auto-tuning of Proportional Band
Upon the initial power-up the proportional band is set to 3%. The optimum proportional band width, however, is automatically calculated and set within the range of 3 to 20%, according to the changesin the temperature of the controlled system. This automatic adjustment of the proportional band is
performed regardless of whether the controlled system is a heating or cooling system.
When the power is turned OFF once, and then ON again, the control action starts with the previousproportional band. However, the new proportional band is automatically calculated and set.
The calculation of the proportional band, however, is not carried out if the temperature of thecontrolled system changes at a rate faster than 7.5% of full scale per 2 seconds (e.g., faster than3.75% degrees C per second with the full scale of 100 degrees C). In this case, the previouslycalculated and set proportional band is used.
The temperature controller has an overshoot suppression function that reduces second and
subsequent overshoots to a level less than the initial overshoot.

Input Shift FunctionThe temperature indication can be shifted by setting switch 4 of the function selector dipswitch toON, and pressing the mode key repeatedly until the message "H0" (indicating 0 input shift) isdisplayed on the main display. Then set the shift value by using the UP or DOWN key.
Fine adjustment of the the temperature indication and the resulting controlled temperature is
possible without changing or affecting the set point.
The input shift value can be set within the range from -99.9 degrees to 99 degrees (F or C). Forranges that have resolution to 0.1 degree, the input shift value can be set within the range from -
99.9 degrees to 9.9 degrees (F or C). The input shift function is useful to make small temperaturecorrections to the control system. "Small" means less than +/- 25 degrees.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1.) Any offset adjustment greater than +/- 25 degrees is usually not considered an offsetproblem, but a possible problem with the sensor or calibration of this controller.
2.) The offset value remains effective even after switch 4 has been set to OFF. If thecompensation action is not needed, be sure to set the offset value to 0.
3.) Make sure to disable (turn OFF) switch 4 once offset has been correctly set. Keepingswitch 4 enabled during operation has known to cause temperature stability problems in thiscontroller.
RTD Sensor Input StandardUse switch 5 of the function selector dipswitch to match the controller to the thermocouple or RTDsensor to be used. With switch 5 ON, the controller will accept DIN (West German) standard
sensors. With switch 5 OFF, the controller accepts JIS (Japanese) standard sensors.

Scale IndicationSome dual-scale (C/F) temperature scale ranges may be selected by rotary dipswitch. To specifythe scale indication to be displayed, use switch 6 on the function selector dipswitch.
With switch 6 set to ON, the controller displays Fahrenheit scale. With the switch 6 set to OFF, thecontroller displays Celsius scale.
Selecting A Scale Range
Use the rotary dipswitch to select the temperature scale range. The tables below show the switch
setting number for each range. The temperature indication range is the set temperature range (fullscale) +/-10%, unless otherwise noted. If the set temperature is shifted outside of changing thescale range, the set temperature is displayed. It is then automatically changed to the maximum orminimum value of the newly set temperature scale range. If the alarm value is shifted outside thetemperature scale range as a result of changing the scale range, it is automatically changed to themaximum value of the newly set scale range.

When the alarm mode selectorswitch is set to position 0 or 9,neither the alarm value isdisplayed nor the AL indicatorlights even when the return keyis pressed.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Most common mistake madeby the user regarding alarmsetting:
The alarm triggers off the setpoint (SP) of the controller andNOT a set temperature.
For example:
If your controller's set point is100 degrees and you set thealarm for an upper limit alarm(#2) and you want the alarm togo off if the temperature reach110 degrees or above. You
must set your alarm for 10 (100+ 10 = 110), which is thedifference between set point andesired alarm limit. In this same example, if youmistakenly set the alarm for 11instead of 10, you alarm will noenable until it reaches 220.Which is 110 + 100 (set point)210.
Standby Sequence:
Alarm functions with standbysequence suppresses nuisancealarms when the controller isfirst powered up.The alarm output is suppresseduntil the temperature exceedsthe alarm band or alarm limitone time.
