The ‘E’ Wrap Cast-OnNeedle in Holding Position (HP)

(Closed edge cast-on)

By Lorna Hamilton-Brown MBE

Put the required number of stitches into (HP) (COR)

Make a slip knot and attach to the first needle at the left

Wrap the yarn loosely and evenly (anti-clockwise) around each needle

The yarn always goes under first, then up and over the needl

Continue to the end of the selected needles

Thread the carriage, set to normal knitting and knit one row (COL)

To ensure the machine knits these new stitches push the needles to (HP) with one hand, while holding the

knitting against the machine with the other

Continue working in this manner (bringing needles to (HP) for about 4 rows. Hang weights

Knit the required number of rows in chosen pattern.
