You are invited to open your heart anew to the blessings of life that comes from our Lord. Sunday, March 29 — Palm Sunday 9 a.m., Good News Celebration, Great Hall 8:45 & 11 a.m., Sanctuary, “Love Unknown,” A festival of hymns & readings from Max Lucado Thursday, April 2 — Maundy Thursday Worship, 6:30 p.m., Great Hall Friday, April 3 — Good Friday Worship, 6:30 p.m., Sanctuary Saturday, April 4 — Easter Egg Hunt for Children. 10 a.m., Laurel Park. Sunday, April 5 — EASTER WORSHIP 8:45 and 11 a.m., Sanctuary. 9 a.m., Great Hall This Week in Worship We continue our series, “Now is the Time.” This week the tag line is “to pray.” As Jesus approached Jerusalem he said, “Now my heart is troubled.” Through this pain he resolves to glori- fy God. This week we will be inspired by the way Jesus prays and models prayer for us. Pastor Michael will be preaching in both Sanctuary services at 8:45 and 11:00. Pastor Keith will be preach- ing in the Good News Celebration at 9:00 in the Great Hall. Let us ‘Break-Fast’ Together on Maundy Thursday Each year many of us turn to fasting as a spiritual discipline for the Lenten season. Maybe you’ve chosen to abstain from something -- sweets, soda, coffee, social media -- through Lent’s 40 days. Recalling Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness, fasting helps us to remember our dependence on God and helps open a place in our lives for God to come in. With this in mind, we are inviting our whole congre- gation to fast on Maundy Thursday, April 2, by skip- ping lunch that day and donating the money normally spent on lunch to our Food Pantry ministry. The exciting part of our community fast- ing together is the opportunity to “break-fast” together at the 6:30 Maundy Thursday Service that evening in the Great Hall. At the Maundy (Holy) Thursday Service you are invited to “come hungry” and receive Holy Communion around tables. Afterwards, there will be more food for us to share around the tables, mostly with a “middle eastern flare” - hummus, breads, olives, grapes, cheese, vegetables, and back by popular demand, Chick- Fil-A chicken nuggets. Please know that if you are not able to fast from a meal on Maundy Thursday you are still en- couraged to find a way to participate. Some alterna- tives our staff considered included refraining from social media and then “check in” at the service or refrain from music that day and have the first melo- dies be the sacred music of the Church. Find your way to make a sacrifice, acknowledge your depend- ence on God, and open a place in your life for God to come in. Palm Sunday worship in the Sanc- tuary will take the form of a service of music for Holy Week, accompanied by meditations from writings of Max Lucado. Our sanctuary choirs, brass, MidYouth Choir and Handbell Choir will lead the congregation in hymns and an- thems, beginning with the enthusiastic “Hosannas” of Palm Sunday and preparing us for the agony of Good Friday. The same format will be followed at both the 8:45 and 11:00 services. The music, “Love Unknown: A Festival of Passion Readings and Hymns,” is by Michael Burkhardt. The composer intended the hymn settings and readings “as a means for God’s people to journey with Jesus, from the trium- phal entry into Jerusalem to his death on Calvary’s cross.” Palm Sunday to Feature Service of Music in Sanctuary Our soup kitchen, the Amazing Grace Cafe, began five years ago when our youth had a vision to provide a hot meal for those in need. This ministry continues to feed an average of 70 people every second and fourth Thursdays. To enable the cafe to continue into the future, we need your help. Contact Kisha Bumpers ([email protected] or 501-329-3801) if you can help in any way. Cafe nights are completely volunteer driven and there are multiple ways you can be of help in any way: Volunteer to help set up (5 to 5:30 p.m.), serve (5:30 to 6:30 p.m.) and/or clean up (6:30 to 7 p.m.) Volunteer to drive the bus the fourth Thursday evening each month (5 to 7 p.m.) Volunteer to pick up donations at Out- back Steak House on the Mondays before our Thursday Café. This Week in Worship We continue our series, “Now is the Time.” This week the tag line is “to pray.” As Jesus approached Jerusalem he said, “Now my heart is troubled.” Through this pain he resolves to glori-fy God. This week we will be inspired by the way Jesus prays and models prayer for us. Pastor Michael will be preaching in both Sanctuary services at 8:45 and 11:00. Pastor Keith will be preach-ing in the Good News Celebration at 9:00 in the Great Hall.

With this in mind, we are inviting our whole congre-gation to fast on Maundy Thursday, April 2, by skip-ping lunch that day and donating the money normally spent on lunch to our Food Pantry ministry. Please know that if you are not able to fast from a meal on Maundy Thursday you are still en-couraged to find a way to participate. Find your way to make a sacrifice, acknowledge your depend-ence on God, and open a place in your life for God to come in.

Palm Sunday worship in the Sanc-tuary will take the form of a service of music for Holy Week, accompanied by meditations from writings of Max Lucado.

Our sanctuary choirs, brass, MidYouth Choir and Handbell Choir will lead the congregation in hymns and an-thems, beginning with the enthusiastic “Hosannas” of Palm Sunday and preparing us for the agony of Good Friday.

The same format will be followed at both the 8:45 and 11:00 services.

The music, “Love Unknown: A Festival of Passion Readings and Hymns,” is by Michael Burkhardt.

The composer intended the hymn settings and readings “as a means for God’s people to journey with Jesus, from the trium-phal entry into Jerusalem to his death on Calvary’s cross.”
