What do e-Portfolios represent?
“e-Portfolios focus on growth and development over time and can be seen as a concrete representation of critical thinking and reflection of skills and achievements;
implemented through the selection of evidence for goal setting and self evaluation..”
(Barrett, 1999, 2000)

It’s a different World!
![Page 10: E Portdigitalstories](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051610/54928e18b47959d36c8b45c1/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Technology enables students to collect and organize more effectively.
• Through the use of technology, students can use tools to record their progress over time.
• "A culture of evidence asks students to think more deeply about learning to show what they have learned rather than simply choose an answer from a list of multiple choice options.” (Barrett)
![Page 11: E Portdigitalstories](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051610/54928e18b47959d36c8b45c1/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
The e-Portfolio is a tool to help students:
1. Think about and plan their future;2. Evaluate their progress in conjunction with
teachers, parents and counselors;3. Identify learning experiences that will help reach
their goals;4. Demonstrate what they know and can do;5. Learn to use, a progressive tool which will be
carried forward from year-to-year to recognize vital pieces of their personal, academic, and career development process; and
6. Record ongoing work and accomplishments on into adulthood.
![Page 12: E Portdigitalstories](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051610/54928e18b47959d36c8b45c1/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
The e-Portfolio is a tool to help teachers:
1. Encourage and support best teaching practices and learning opportunities;
2. Provide a convenient way to collect and sort information that helps students think about where they want to go;
3. Demonstrate, that outcomes stated in Alberta Learning’s Program of Studies and ICT outcomes and are being met;
4. Increase student motivation and engagement by connecting learning, to students' personal interests and accomplishments; and
5. Connect learning to the essential elements of Career Development for students.
