The Perry Local Board of Education met Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at T. C.

Knapp Elementary.

OPENING OF MEETING

President Capuano called the meeting to order.

BOARD OF EDUCATION REPORTS

Vice President Elum reported on the curriculum meeting that she attended. Member

Brenner reported on the meeting he attended regarding field turf.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Superintendent Bowe introduced T.C. Knapp Elementary Principal, Ms. Tricia Self. Ms.

Self shared two videos with the Board showing students practicing the “15 manners

Knapp students should know”. Students also read to the Board feedback provided from

parents regarding the school, staff and district.

FINANCE

2014-072 Bills for Payment Motion by Member Brenner, Seconded by Member Elum

to approve bills for payment for the month of March 2014 in the amount of

$3,982,738.94.

to approve authorization for the Superintendent to utilize all services of the Stark County

2014-099 Resolution for Calamity Day Alternative Make-Up Plan for the 2014-15 School

Year Motion by Member Casey, Seconded by Member Brenner

to approve and adopt the proposed resolution for a calamity day alternative make-up plan

for the 2014-15 school year as follows:

WHEREAS, the Perry Local School District Board of Education desires that students

have learning opportunities even when schools are closed for any of the reasons

specified in section 3317.01 of the Ohio Revised Code and in excess of the number of

days authorized in section 3313.48; and

WHEREAS, section 3313.88 authorizes a board of education to file an annual plan

with the Ohio Department of Education each year to provide online learning

opportunities for students in lieu of attendance on such excess days:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT, AND IT IS, HEREBY RESOLVED that the Perry Local

School District Board of Education hereby approves the following plan and authorizes

its filing with the Ohio Department of Education.
