1. Delhi Tourism participated in BITB, Powered by ITB BERLIN (The World’s Leading Tourism Fair)

Delhi Tourism in its endeavour to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the city and to promote Delhi as a favourite tourist destination, participated as host city partner in BITB event held from 4th-6th October, 2016, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The show featured a marketplace, which brought buyers and sellers on the virtual bazaar, along with 6 Power Conclaves, each being driven by an industry leader.The most comprehensive platform for the big chains operating in India was present at BITB. Delhi Tourism featured a number of attractions through its 154 sq. mtr. stall at the fair. Showcasing the beauty of the capital city by the means of 5 key elements, this stall portrayed Heritage, Shopping, Food, Film Shooting and Culture.

Delhi Tourism made available handicrafts for display and artists creating masterpieces live in the front of the audience. A mixture of heritage, culture and art of Delhi, Dilli Haat kiosk at the stall offered attractions like Mehndi artists and antique jewellery. The taste of heavens was brought to this stall by the famous and renowned eatery. All together, these kiosks at the Delhi Tourism stall created and portrayed the rich culture of Delhi. The focus of BITB has been on Indian buyers and some 800 buyers were being hosted, the highest ever by any Indian B2B event. The show was built around selective products and provided the most lucrative buyer-seller ratio. Buyers were chosen and invited by leading exhibitors, important for both domestic and outbound tourism.

2. Ganesh Utsav at Dilli Haat (Janak Puri & INA ) (5th-14th October, 2016) Cultural and shopping hub in capital, Dilli Haat, celebrated the Ganesh Utsav. With colourful activities and stalls, the event ended with a grand festival of immersion of the idols on Anant Chaturdashi.

3. Diwali Mela - Meri Dilli Utsav 2016, Dilli Haat-Pitampura

(14th Oct - 16th Oct, 2016) The annual extravaganza “Meri Dilli Utsav” provided a wonderful occasion to the people of Delhi to enjoy 3 days of non-stop masti' along with unique shopping bonanza and eating out experience for the whole family. The Utsav had most entertaining unique programs along with exquisite lifestyle products and exotic mouth watering delicacies on sale. With more than 200 lifestyle stalls, the biggest utsav of Delhi, Meri Dilli Utsav, received thousands of affluent families every day. Meri Dilli Utsav provided an excellent opportunity to reach affluent families of Delhi by participating in this wonderful event and reaped handsome benefits.

4. Deep Utsav at Dilli Haat-JP (21 – 23 October, 2016) For the vivacious crowd of the town, Dilli Haat organized 'Deep Utsav' wherein Diwali related items such as earthen lamps, candles, floating candles, pooja thali, idols of Ganesh & Laxmi and other gift items were available for sale. The crowd enjoyed shopping for their abode, while they got to taste some amazing street food at the stalls. They made the most of their evenings and got into the shopping mode at incredible quality and price.

5. Great Indian Food Festival Celebrations in Dilli Haat-Pitampura

Dilli Haat’s food festival focused on street food in particular. This festival saw vendors from all over the country participating and showcasing their delicacies.

The aroma of various dishes form different places in Delhi like Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar and many other areas directed people through the lanes of Dilli Haat, Pitampura, during such food festivals. These events are huge crowd pullers because the idea of sampling so many varieties of food under one roof excites foreign tourists as well.

6. Rescue Boats at Bhalswa Lake during Chhath Puja (6th November, 2016) Bhalswa Lake which is also known as horse shoe lake is located in North - West Delhi. Delhi government started promoting Bhalswa lake as water sports centre. During the Chhath Puja, this year, rescue boats were provided. Paddle boats are available for boating purpose. No advance booking required and one can take boat on hire from boat club directly on cash payment. This picturesque location has various mud cottages in its widespread premises. This place is certainly a place that can offer people a place for peace and solitude.

Around the water body of lake you may visualize a huge range of migratory birds and other beautiful birds. Monsoon is probably is the best time to visit the place and the running authorities provide facilities for lakeside tents for the tourists.

7. Tata Energy Power Event, Dilli Haat-Pitampura (12th Nov)

Tata Power Delhi Distribution, a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government

of Delhi, distributes power in North and North West Delhi, organised a

Renewable Energy Fair at Dilli Haat Pitampura, Delhi, on12th November, 2016.

Over 100 RWA members and 500 students participated in the event along with

TPDDL employees. The event was also open to the general public.

The event was aimed at creating an awareness among people regarding

renewable energy and to promote development and implementation of

renewable and alternate energy devices and technologies. At the event venue,

information about the benefits of renewable energy was disseminated through

display of science models and exhibitions panels, mini seminars, quiz contests

and conferences. The theme for the competitions / programmes was “Renewable

Energy and its Effective Utilisation”. The competitions evoked good response

among the younger generation and some 100 students participated in the

competitions.

8. Handicrafts Mela, Dilli Haat, INA (1st -15th Nov)

Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India presented Cluster Creations, a handicrafts

mela to provide a platform to the rural and local artisans.

The exhibition cum sale featured products like wood, metal and iron crafts,

brassware, marble decor items, traditional utensils of different regions of India,

furnishings, Kashmiri carpets, madhubani paintings, fashion accessories and

jewelleries as an initiative for the development of women handicrafts.

9. DTTDC participated in NFDC’s Film Bazaar at Goa

Delhi Tourism, in its endeavour to promote locations for film shootings in Delhi participated in one day workshop on ‘Film in India – Creating a Film Friendly Nation’ organized by NFDC, Ministry of I & B, Govt. of India as a part of Film Bazaar in Goa on 22nd November, 2016. It is a platform exclusively created to encourage collaboration between the International and South Asian Film Fraternity.

Film Bazaar is an annual event and one of the largest South Asian Film Market event organized and promoted by NFDC, Ministry of I & B, Govt. of India.

Delhi Tourism was represented by Sh. S.P. Singh, MD & CEO, DTTDC and Sh. Sudhir Sobti, Chief Manager (PR & Pub.) in the event, who also gave a brief presentation on introduction of single window clearances by Govt. of Delhi through Delhi Tourism to facilitate the film producers.

The event was participated by senior functionaries from various State Tourism Boards, Ministry of I & B, MEA, Home, Railways and others besides Film Producers from abroad and leading producers from Bollywood

10. Delhi Tourism bids farewell to its employees

Delhi Tourism bid farewell to 7 of its employees during the period of October – December, 2016, namely:-

The retiring employees were facilitated by Sh. S.P. Singh, MD & CEO, DTTDC and Dr. Pooja Joshi, General Manager, DTTDC as they applauded the long and sincere service rendered by these employees.

11. Soft Adventure Park at Garden of Five Senses [ 23rd November, 2016 ]

With a view to promote Garden of Five Senses as an eco friendly project and attract more visitors to the Garden, Delhi Tourism and Transportation

Development Corporation (DTTDC) introduced the Soft Adventure Park at Garden of Five Senses. The Soft Adventure Park was inaugurated by Sh. Kapil Mishra, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Delhi in the august presence of Sh. Kartar Singh Tanwar, MLA Chattarpur Vidhan Sabha, Dr. Pooja Joshi, General Manager, DTTDC and other senior officers of DTTDC and Govt. of Delhi.

The adventure park is surrounded by sprawling lush green garden which provides a mystic ambience to the adventure park. Adventure Park is developed making use of natural materials such as wood and jute ropes. The park is designed keeping nature lovers in mind. The games are such that one would feel close to the nature. Some of the highlighting features/activities the Adventure Park has to offer are:

Paint Ball, Rock Climbing Wall, Zip Line, Burma Bridge, Commando Net, Running Bungee, Sumo Wrestling, Zorbing, Air Rifle Shooting, Archery and more.

The Adventure Park commenced its operations for general public from 26th November, 2016 from 10:30 am onwards. The entry ticket to the Garden of Five Senses has been kept Rs. 30 only (for adults) and Rs. 10 only (for children) and the price for activities ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 120 per person (including taxes).

12. Jannat-e-Kashmir at Dil Walo ki Dilli J & K Food and Culture 2016 at Dilli Haat, INA

 

A 15-day festival showcasing food, culture and craft of Jammu and Kashmir got off to a colourful start at Dilli Haat, INA with leaders from the tourism industry appealing to tourists to visit the state and enjoy the "unparallelled" hospitality of its people. MoS Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir, Priya Sethi inaugurated the event.

13. Dilli Haat’s Brush with Graffiti

Delhi Tourism in collaboration with Austrian Cultural Forum, Austrian Embassy, New Delhi organized an exhibition of the works of Mr. Jeremias Altmann, an Austrian artist renowned for drawing, wall painting at Dilli Haat INA Market from December 9, 2016 to December 15, 2016.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Michael Heinz, Director – Austrian Cultural Forum, Sh. S. P. Singh, MD & CEO, DTTDC and Sh. Naresh Kuparia, an eminent Installation Artist and an International Award Winner, in august presence of Dr. Georg Zehetner, Head of Austrian Embassy, Mr. Rajan Sehgal, Co-Chairman, Tourism Committee of FICCI, Mrs. Cristina Mukherjee, Director, Austrian Tourism Board of India and Mrs. Shovana Narayan, a renowned Kathak Dancer at Dilli Haat - INA on 9th Dec, 2016.

The Austrian artist Jeremias Altmann alias Jermy created a wall painting in the amphitheatre at Dilli Haat – INA, where people usually sit to enjoy cultural activities. Also, Jermy showcased his creations which he made early this year during his stay in Delhi in the central courtyard of Dilli Haat INA Market where people usually sit to enjoy and now for a week can observe his paintings.

14. Noise for Needy at Garden of Five Senses

(10th Dec, 2016)

Delhi Tourism in association with Hemi’s Buzz, a positive-minded group of musicians organized a charitable event, "Noise For The Needy", a one-day music, art and food festival with live musical performances by handpicked live musical acts, a plethora of food stalls and various art installations held on 10th Dec, 2016. NFTN is a landmark event at Saket’s Garden of Five Senses amphitheatre that attracted a packed venue of enthusiastic fans from across Delhi/NCR. The aim of this event was to spread awareness about the needy and the downtrodden and our responsibility towards them. Various NGOs throughout Delhi set up their collection/donation booths along with some information booths as well to serve this noble cause.

15. DTTDC brings out Calendar & Note Book Diary 2017

Delhi Tourism (DTTDC) has been bringing out Calendar & Diaries every year with a theme. This year’s theme has been kept as ‘Festivals of Delhi’ which strives to present its unity in Diversity, to portray multiplicity and beauty of Delhi Festivals, to portray festivals which people celebrate with great enthusiasm and fanfare, forgetting the regularity and monotony of their daily lives.

Keeping in mind with its utility, this year DTTDC came out with a Note Book Diary which is much sleeker compared to the previous year Diary and will be more functional for the users.

16. Momo Festival at Garden of Five Senses

Delhi Tourism organised Momo Festival at Garden of Five Senses from 17 - 18 Dec, 2016 from 11:00 am onwards. All major Momo vendors and outlets known for their enticing piping hot momos had put up their stalls at the venue where people relished 60 different varieties of mouth watering momos. The event witnessed an overwhelming response as footfall of more than 25,000 people attended the event to relish the mouth watering momos. Apart from Momos, 51 different varieties of Tea is being served at the venue.

17. Delhi Tourism goes Cashless

Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has initiated cashless transaction plans for all its all entities, including liquor vends.

The corporation will make all the payments to employees, contractors and stakeholders for salary, excise, rentals and procurement of goods and services through digital mode only. All payment transactions amounting Rs. 5,000/- and more will be made through Net banking/ RTGS only. For transactions below Rs. 5,000/- will also be done through cashless mode especially net banking.

Payment through POS machine for receiving payments and other modes of cash less transactions such as e-wallet, UPI, USSP will be facilitated and modalities for the same are being worked out.

At, present 46 POS machines from Axis Bank have been installed and made functional and a supply order for additional 140 POS machines has been already given to HDFC bank. These POS machines will be linked with mobile number for verification and notification alert purpose.

18. Santa Rings at Dilli Haats – INA & Janakpuri

In a bid to boost tourism in the city, Delhi Tourism celebrated Christmas Carnival at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri from 23rd – 25th December, 2016 and at Dilli Haat, INA from 23rd – 31st December, 2016. The occasion of Christmas spreads joy and laughter and this celebration would heartily bid farewell to 2016 and welcome the new-year in great enthusiasm.

During Christmas Carnival at Dilli Haat Janakpuri & INA, a unique Christmas Bazaar and Santa Claus moving around the venue distributing candies to charm the little ones was the main attraction of the Carnival. Groups from

various churches of Delhi conducted Christmas Carols singing and cultural programmes every evening lighted the mood of the visitors.

To add on to the ambiance, numerous decorative X-Mas Trees around 7 ft. along with decorative items was also set up and Santa Claus attire was available on sale along with other decorative items. Also, North- East Rock Band performance rocked the visitors at Dilli Haat, INA.

19. Jack & Jill Expo

Red Hat Communications organized ‘Jack & Jill Expo’ at Le Meridien on 24th & 25th December, 2016 in which Delhi Tourism participated. The mega event was organized to promote tourism, health & knowledge and inculcate rich heritage of Delhi amongst Children, School and Parents. Delhi Tourism announced special customized tours for private schools and stationed its HOHO buses at the venue to promote the use of HOHO buses for sight-seeing in Delhi.

20. Haftawar Utsav

(Every Weekend at all 3 Delhi Haats and Garden of Five Senses)

Delhi Tourism in collaboration with Department of Art, Culture and Languages, Govt. of Delhi has started Haftawar Utsav at all three Dilli Haats (INA, Pitampura and Janakpuri) and Garden of Five Senses during October to March. These series of festivals happening every weekend aim to promote cultural tourism in the city.

Institutions like Sahitya Kala Parishad, Hindi Academy, Sindhi Academy, Urdu Academy, and Punjabi Academy will be hosting cultural shows that include musical performances, Kavi Sammelan, Mushaira and dance performances. Every weekend at all Dilli Haats and garden of Five Senses cultural shows are

performed. This innovative initiative to make every weekend will also give an exclusive platform to new and seasoned artists to showcase their talent.

Haftawar Utsav till now have had programs like Qawwali by Hindi Academy, Folk dances from Haryana and Rajasthan and Gidda, Urdu Poets’ Meet by Urdu Academy, a Sanskritik Karyakram by Hindu Academy, folk dances from Manipur, and Maithili/ Bhojpuri performances.

21. New Year’s Celebration at Garden of Five Senses. At Delhi Tourism, winter has always been a stage for series of celebrations. In keeping in line with the tradition, Delhi Tourism organised ‘DJ Night and Food Festival’ at Garden of Five Senses on 31st December, 2016 and 1st December, 2017. The 2 Days extravaganza offered an awe-inspiring experience to the visitors with amazing food and music. Post demonetization where people had to cut short their expenses for new year celebrations celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at Garden of Five Senses as the entry fee to venue was kept as Rs. 30. Also a food festival was hosted at the venue where visitors enticed their taste buds with varieties of food and delicacies like Momos, barbeque, various mocktails and more than 50 varieties of Tea at the venue. DJ Night till late night was also organized to enthral the visitors and imbibe the spirit of new year celebration amongst masses despite cash crunch.
