    Wednesday

    Night Suppers

    will resume in

    the Fall.

    God Is The Issue

God is the issue [with regard to sin]. God is love, and

when I hate, I violate the nature of God and I sinagainst him. It's not at all likely that I'll ever do any-

thing very violent to the [particular] person in question

[with whom I am angry]; middle class gentility willkeep me from it. But in my heart I will have violated

God, who is love - and who has invested love in you

    and in me.

    And when we understand

that God is the issue in de-fining sin, we will also beginto understand the remedy

for sin.... It is so serious an

issue that it can be reme-

died only by the supremesacrifice of the Son of God.

it visualizes what cant be seen and makes it a

reality for the future (Jesse Fletcher, 1973

    WMU Annual Meeting, Portland, Oregon).

57In guiding us to provide for WMUs futureYou gave that vision through the Second Cen-

tury Fund (1988) and the WMU Foundation

    (1995). Thank You, Lord.

58 Thank You for calling me to serve You

through WMU. Help me see the open doors You

    have placed before me.

59 Praise You, Lord, for the opportunity to

read Matthew 28:1920 and know we already

have directions. Give us courage now to obey

    You.

60 Father, I pray that WMU of the future will

stay focused on Your purposes, stand fast and

firm, take action, and never waver even in the

    midst of the worlds challenges.

    Prayer GUIDE

    for 60 Days of

    Passionate

Prayer53 So many people lack a loving relationship

with You. Lord, help my witnessing efforts

bring good news and hope to the desperate of

    heart.

54 In my everyday life, Lord, help me to

activate my faith by involving myself in

    mission action activities.

55 Lord, lead me to grasp the fact that the

cost of being a disciple of Christ is always high.

Give me courage to be a missions disciple

    every day I live.

56 Father, lead me to involve others to see

that, Missions is as new as tomorrow because

    Galatians 4:17

    Those people are zeal-

ous to win you over, but

    for no good. What they

    want is to alienate you

    from us, so that you

    may have zeal for

    them. (NIV)

Pray for the unreached people of India.

There Once Was a Rich Man...

There once was a rich man who was neardeath. He was very grieved because hehad worked so hard for his money and hewanted to be able to take it with him toheaven. So he began to pray that hemight be able to take some of his wealthwith him.

An angel hears his plea and appears to

him. "Sorry, but you can't take your

wealth with you." The man implores theangel to speak to God to see if He mightbend the rules.

The man continues to pray that his wealthcould follow him. The angel reappears andinforms the man that God has decided toallow him to take one suitcase with him.Overjoyed, the man gathers his largestsuitcase and fills it with pure gold bars andplaces it beside his bed.

Soon afterward the man dies and showsup at the Gates of Heaven to greet St. Pe-ter. St. Peter seeing the suitcase says,"Hold on, you can't bring that in here!"

But, the man explains to St. Peter that hehas permission and asks him to verify hisstory with the Lord. Sure enough, St. Pe-ter checks and comes back saying, "You'reright. You are allowed one carry-on bag,but I'm supposed to check its contents be-

    fore letting it through."

St. Peter opens the suitcase to inspect theworldly items that the man found too pre-cious to leave behind and exclaims, "Youbrought pavement?!!!"
